What would you do if you started a discussion and noone showed up to answer?

Have you ever put up a discussion and then had noone respond to it? What did you do? How do you get other members interested in your discussions? Please share your tips and tricks for posting on MyLot.
Most times. there are lots of people, who are kind enough to stop by to answer the various discussions I put up. Today is a bit slower. I think most people are not online yet. It's just now ten A.M. Most times, the discussions pick up around noon and then again after dinner time. That's just what I've found from experience. (Afternoons are not bad for posting either.)
Normally, if I'll just wait, someone will show up. But, I was wondering. What would you do if you posted a discussion and noone showed up? Would you email a friend and ask them to post at your discussion? Would you post at another person's discussion and hope they returned the favor?

Suck thumb and cry?
You can try to figure out what is wrong. Chances are you will have a rough idea.
When all else fails, moan and whine to your friends and hint for them not-so-subtly to reply to your discussion.
Or you can just let the moon pass over your head as is the case every night and move on.

Oh, what a sweetie you are! Am I sulking?
Hmm....oh well. Nice of you to drop by and point it out. Now really, what would you do if noone showed up for your discussions? Of course that would never happen. But we can imagine, right?
Thanks for dropping by and adding humor to the morning.2 people like this

Geez, did I step on your toes accidentally?
OMG, I am so sorry!
I was talking about MYSELF! Please do not take it the wrong way. That's what I will do if I don't get responses - suck thumb, moan and whine to friends or just move on like the moon over my head.
Once again, I apologize if my words have somehow erroneously conveyed what I did not mean.

No, I was just kidding or joking. I should not have said that. My apologies! You did nothing wrong. I am feeling better now. Be well, my friend!

In all honesty, it doesn't really bother me if people don't respond right away to my discussions. I don't start discussions very often at all anyway, though. So I definitely don't have a following. That's fine with me, though. I prefer responding anyway.

I usually just wait. I'm not in any hurry to get responses. Sure it's nice and all but I can wait. I'm pretty patient I guess. Someone usually comes along, even if it's months later and answers them. And I have plenty of other discussions that are getting responses so it all balances out.

I am new so I have put up a couple and no one responded. I figured no one wanted to reply to he new guy. That is fine. One was pretty specific about collecting certain things and I wanted to see if anyone else here does. I guess either they do not or they just never searched or saw my post. I don't really take it personally or anything. I have found some really good discussions to reply to and I have seen some that are just ridiculous. I even replied to a few of those though. The mindless ones are the easiest to answer but there isn't really any discussion to it. I like some of the deeper debates that might even get a bit heated. people shouldn't offend or swear to get their point across, that is just ignorant, but if one really believes in something I can understand how people trying to disprove them can make them upset. So I guess in answer to everything you asked, fluff gets quick replies but no respect and isn't very much fun. Hooking up with some quality people who will read and discuss, even if you don't get the amount of replies is much more rewarding I would think.

I think that I would respond to several discussions of one of my friend's and hope that they will return the favor. Most of my discussions with no responses are buried by more of my discussions. It doesn't bother me so much that they are unanswered, as I usually just try to make up for it by responding to people and hoping that I get a response on mine.

I have never posted a discussion that noone has responded to. I don't think I would be too bothered, because in real life people say things to us and we don't care but we have to reply as we are face to face, whereas on here if someone is not interested they do not have to reply. I think that is better and more honest. I think that people that get bothered by it, over think things too much, it is not a personal attack on them or anything. So I would not do anything about it, I would definitely not email and message people begging them to reply to it.

Hello beautyqueen26,i'm very late posting. If nobody showed up or respond to my discussion...hmmm...surely i get depressed. That's why sometimes i'd rather not check my discussions first,i'd go to the other discussions where i could post/respond to topics that interests me.It's funny some might think but at times i make posting to some topics that have been posted last month or so.Maybe because i know the feeling of having topics that's too trivial for others-maybe.Haven't emailed a friend and ask them to check my topic,i don't know if that will be fine with them.
