The Discarding of Drugs / myLot

that was my concern - after hearing tales about cattle becoming infertile due to drinking water contaminated with hormones from birth control and such things I do not want to add to the troubles as I am sure not all our medications can be filtered out of the water. We happen to have a well, but eventually the stuff we flush will work into the soil and quite possibly the water table.

I ALWAYS take them back to the chemists (pharmacy) they can dispose of them safely so that they cannot be taken by someone they may harm nor pollute the water system! xxxx

i just flush it in the sink...but save the bottles...i take medicine daily since im slightly elevated blood pressure but unfortunately it was a tablet form no plastic container..just plastic pads..

When they are expired, and they are pills, I flush them down the toilet. If they are liquid, I pour them into the sink. But until they are expired I hang onto them. I'm always thinking maybe I'll be prescribed it again, and I don't want to pay for something I already have. I live alone, so no one can get into my medicine cabinet and get in trouble. If I had kids I'd probably feel differently.

depends what it is.if it's a narcotic,the pharmacy will usually take it back and discard it for you. they don't want you flushing the stuff anymore like my grandmother used to do (she didn't know any better).

I was wondering about this, and the reason I have not done so is concern that the meds might affect the ground water on the property and eventually leech into our drinking water... this is also the reason that I have not flushed them or washed them down the sink. Throwing them away concerns me that some one might get their hands on them as well.... I've been dissolving them in water and then throwing it away.

I usually burn mine in a bonfire. I rip off the labels from the bottles also. Then I tos the bottles into the recycle bin. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I just flush them down the toilet Modestah, and as I told you before we always tear the labels of our med bottles as well.

I dump the pills down the toilet and then scratch out the label with a black magic marker and than throw the bottle away. I just dump any liquid medicine I have that is expired or if I no longer need it.
