If you have an amusement park nearby let him pick a couple friends and take them there. I know my 15th and 16th birthdays my parents let me invite 2 friends to go with us to the Colonial days an hour from home...go on all the rides, watch chuckwagon races, eat junk food and generally hang out. Then we went to DQ for ice cream cake. The car ride home was always fun too. For my 16th birthday we were allowed to go in my car separately from my parents (they were right behind us all the way) and I got to ake an extra friend because we had a car and a van going down rather than just the van (I'm from a family of 6...theres 4 daughters and my parents).

what about bowling? he could invite a couple of friends and have a bowling party. I would say though, if movie and toysrus is what he wants, let him have what he wants. its a nice tradition and if he likes it, let him have it. all too soon he will want to spend his birthday with his friends only.

Let us know what You do or decide won't You. I have a 15 year old daughter as I said and ideas are as You expressed harder and harder to come up with these days. God Blesses!

I would if it was My situation... Pay for the class ring and have a pizza party and sleep over. Or The ring and the movie and toysrus he wants. I feel that the ring surely is coming up in less than 6 months if He is about to be a 10th grader, or maybe if He will be 11th then it's a bit past. But it will be a BIG expense so give him a limit on dollars like 200.00 or whatever after checking with the local place and then either present Him with a IOU up to 200.00 credit for the ring or whatever and give Him either what He wants, or what You can afford aside of that. Otherwise there is always Money for college/car. Those maybe coming up as well. I personally had to get My son a ring when in school because he surely was going to want to "give it away" at some point probably for a while. My Daughter is 15 and up for that next year and I am debating on whether to produce those funds... When I don't think it's the same for girls to give a boyfriend a ring (class) from school. I couldn't afford anything right now but would find the funds if it was My Son. With My Daughter it's right there on My mind... So I am trying to come up with the funds between now and the fall. But I will only produce the funds if I can and ONLY if She says about really wanting one. Especially since My Son got one. I hate to deprive Her just because She is female. Good Luck! God Blesses!
