I know this isn't meant to be taken seriously since you don't take global warming seriously and that's fine, I respect your opinion, but I'm one who believes in erring on the side of caution. I'm not an "environmentalist wack-o" (does Rush still use that term all the time?) but I do care about our planet and while I'm not a scientist there is enough evidence of climate change that makes sense to me to make me more likely to believe those who are warning us of danger ahead if we don't make some changes. I don't think most of us need to make huge sacrifices but I do think most of us could do a little something without "suffering" too much. Things such as recycling, using more energy efficient appliances and light bulbs, cutting back on our driving if possible, getting more fuel efficient vehicles if possible - it doesn't have to be anything all that major but if we all just did a little something it might help and if global warming does turn out to be the hoax many here think it is you'll have saved a few bucks!

Believe it or not I am concerned about the enviroment and am serious on how people are making changes in their lives to help the enviroment. what i am opposed to is the government trying to regulate and punish people for not doing every stupid thing. A good example is they are talking about banning the incondecent light bulb and requiring the CFL. I have replaced lights in my house with the CFL because I am saving energy and money. I do have a problem with using them in my outdoor lights and my garage light as they are very weak in the winter and require more energy in the cold. I live in a rural area and have to have a car to get around. I am paying gas tax to build the roads and to pay for the people in the large cities to have cheep mass transit.
I think that if we all do somethings it will help. But to have the government dictate what we will give up is wrong. The car I drive, a mini van, is one of those that is in the class of light trucks. The action of the Congress by requiring that the light truck fleet achieve a 35 mpg average in a few years. To achieve it the size of the vehicle will have to be reduced, the size of the engine reduced and the capisity of the vehicle. In my case I will be forced to take two vehicles to transport my family places. One report I read this morning said that people were cutting different things to continue to go on vacation or using their car.
Let me decide what I will do and not the government.

I am willing to give up being poor to help fight global warming. In return for $1,000,000,000,000,000,000 I will send a mini ice age to stave off the evil global warming.
If icebergs don't grow and polar bears flourish, I'll give the money back. Never mind the delayed start of sunspot cycle 24 and what that might mean as to the temperature of the earth in the next decade.
