Because We Care!

We Care - post office messed up with my mail but in an effort to demonstrate how much they care they packaged this single piece of paper from my catalog - with their most ardent apologies.

I got such a kick out of this. The other day I receive this little plastic baggy from the Post Office - inside it is one page from a catalog - the page containing my address. The bag bears the following message: Dear Postal Customer: We sincerely regret the damage to your mail during handling by the Postal Service. We hope this incident did not inconvenience you. We realize that your mail is important to you and that you have every right to expect it to be delivered in good condition. Although every effort is made to prevent damage to the mail, occasionally this will occur because of the great volume handled and the rapid processing methods which must be employed to assure the most expeditious distribution possible. We hope you understand. We assure you, that we are constantly striving to improve our processing methods in order that eve a rare occurrence may be eliminated. Please accept our apologies sincerely (blank - unsigned) your postmaster. This really gets me - truly I would have been better off to have not received it at all. It is just the back page of the entire catalog - what is the point? On the same day I received an order that came in a heavy duty plastic bag - the bag was all torn up and taped up with priority mail tape (the package was not sent priority though) What do you think about the post office spending more money to package up this piece of paper of no importance? would you feel consoled by it?

there is an epidemic of carelessness not just at post offices but all over as though it is in the air we breathe, not only carelessness from lack of concern but sometimes folks will go out of their way to "do something" to others even if the other is never made aware of it. somehow it gives them satisfaction.

This has happened to me twice. The first time it annoyed me, the second time it angered me. The second time it was a birthday card from my grandmother. And it was so torn up I have no clue how they did that. With all the money we have to pay for postage now days, we should at least have the reassurance we will get our mail intact.

I have gotten one of these before too. Only in mine was a ripped up envelope. It looked like it had gotten wet at some point as well. I am glad they still gave me mine though because inside the wreckage was a check! It was damaged but clear enough that the bank still took it thankfully.

But do you really want them deciding whether or not one page is important? I don't! That catalog might have been really important for your business, or maybe for planning a special event. By at least getting the last page, you can write or call the company and request another. Yes, it might cost more than it's worth, but I'd rather they err that way than not send something I might need to know about. I got a similar message once, and the only thing enclosed was part of a box with my name and address and the sender's name and address on it. Thank goodness they sent that to me, because I would not be looking for what got lost. Sadly, it could not be replaced, and was only insured for the amount of postage.

I know it looks kinda useless but maybe they are just following standard operating procedures. Although it is sad to know that your mail or package has been damaged. At least it's a consolation that they "still care".

I have received mail in the little plastic baggy. Sometimes it is not damaged too badly. Once my sister sent me a jar of applesauce. When it got to me it was in a plastic bag from the post office. This one I blame on my sister though since she did not pack it well.

i havent experienced that before i our mail system in our place...its just sad that it turns out to be that way...is there anyway where you can write a letter of complain among the proper authorities so that this will not happened to your mail and to the others?

That is just so pointless and wasteful, but also a sad reflection on the state of the postal services now. I have recently received packages with torn and damaged packaging, one was poorly taped up with a scribbled note that the postman left. I would sooner they saved their money and improved the services, rather than receive a torn out page in a bag.

I disagree. While it is silly to send that, the item got damaged and it's best to send the item damaged then not send at all. From time to time it happens so the post should send it even though it's damaged. It makes you know that they actually care about sending things to you, right? Have a wonderful day. Pablo

How bizarre to waste time and money to send one page of the catalog and just the one containing your address. the explanation does not make much sense either but who knows why they did that. really quite weird.

Our company always ship products to other company, and recieve products from other company. And sometimes the package is broken. We don't care about the package, but the products is broken also, it's really very unconvinience to us. We need the products urgently, and we paid much money then normal mail. Although we claim this for many times, but nothing changed.

I am like you, I think it would have upset me further. Makes you wonder what might have been lost in the package?

That is just too much! I guess that is why we have to pay more for our postage! I too have gotten those torn up remnants of mail, but they have at least been worth forwarding. This was absolutely fruitless, and totally defines our governments attitude about spending money.

That is ridiculous, such a waste of money. They could have just sent you the letter in the post maybe saying why you have not received your mail. But packaging one page up is just silly. Most my packages come in good condition, so I cannot complain.
