Do your kids try to get you to play favorites?

When I was growing up, my brothers were always trying to get my mom to play favorites. Of course, that meant more stuff for them. I had all the stuff I needed. And, I liked buying my own things, so getting favortism treatment never really held that much appeal for me. But, it did annoy me that they thought she would treat them any better or give them more stuff. Right now, I have one kid. So, it's not really an issue for me. She gets what she needs and wants. But, if there were ever another kid, our money resources would be much more limited. So, I guess they would be trying to get mommy to play favorites all the time, then. Do your kids try to get you to play favorites, where you give preferential treatment to one child over the other? How do you deal with situations like that?

I haven't got any kids so my cat is my favourite but I remember when I was a kid, I think I was probably treated as the favourite, I was the youngest, the shyest, and I was always called daddy's little girl, I often wondered later how my sister thought of that, I guess in the minds of children it could be a bit damaging...

I think it's only natural that kids have the desire for more attention. And they do love to get spoiled, lol. But mostly it's about he/she got more than I did kind of stuff with my kids, or I want to go first stuff. I assume it will get worse when they get older.
