Which side of the nose do you pierce?

I was thinking of getting a nose pierce then began wondering if it matters which side you pierce. I seem to remember in the olden days if a guy pierced his left ear he was straight and the right one was gay. These days it doesn't seem to matter. I was wondering if the same is true for noses?

Good Question, I have no idea however. I have only seen a few attractive nose piercings. In my opinion you have to have a small nose, and the post has to be dainty for it to be attractive. Otherwise all you see is nose and and ugly ring.

Good luck with it :))) My nose is too sharp even if I were so inclined. But as I said they can be very pretty if they are dainty and feminine.

I never dreamed of getting my nose pierced until last weekend when on a bender with my best friend. The more we drank and talked the more I fell in love with the idea. I always thought the backing was on the inside of the nose but I was told you don't put one on. So I think a little diamond stud would look okay as my nose is the least ugly thing on my body!

hmmm, I wonder.. hopefully someone will answer, so I can have another interesting bit of trivia to learn.. I'm leaning toward thinking it doesn't matter which side.. but what do I know?

..yes, you may not want to pierce the 'wrong' side, unless that were what you wanted to do.. could cause some confusion.. My hubby had this problem years ago when he pierced his one ear.. then had second thoughts wondering if he'd pierced the 'wrong' one even though he'd sought out advice.. but that's a distant memory that is faded now, along with the hole in his ear lobe..

I have no idea either, but I'm thinking it doesn't matter.
Back in the 80's when I learned about the "left=straight" and "right=gay" earring thing, I also found out that it was the opposite in England, after listening to an interview with Corey Hart (he had his right ear done).
I was just talking to my best girl-friend about nose rings this morning actually. She thinks they're awful, but I think they're lovely on some women. I don't think it's something I could handle, nor do I think I have the right "look" for one, but that doesn't keep me from liking them. :)
If you get it done, what kind of ring are you getting? A small stud or loop? I like the look of the mini studs... the little sparkly ones, especially the ones that look like little diamonds.

I was thinking of a little sparkly stud. Whether I will actually have the nerve or not is a different story though...I was thinking side doesn't matter too and besides I am comfortable enough in my sexuality that I don't care if people think I am gay or not.

Maybe you should just decide which side is better on you? For me, if I were to get it done, I'd likely go on the left side, but that's because of the way I wear my hair; parted on the left. I don't know if that's a strong argument or not... but that would be my reasoning anyways.
