Do you see if there is a similar discussion before starting a new one?

There are som many discussions, old and new, on myLot!!!!
Have you ever thought about that! I find it hard sometimes to know what to write about because it seems that every topic has been dealt with before.
The first few discussions I started, I didn't think about the fact that there is plenty of discussions already (it seems that they aren't really "archived" away at all) and then after I hadwritten and started a discussion I saw below it discussions on similar topics. Sometimes there has been similar topics already discussed! Now I try to search a bit before starting a discussion, but sometimes that doesn't help. Just before I started a discussion about favourite month of the year, I searched on month, but didn't find anything relevant. But then after I started it it came up the exact same topic, for a discussion about nine months ago. How could I know that!?
So do you try to search before you start a discussion, just to see that there is not a similar one already, or do you just start one? Do you ever think that if you start a discussion similar as to one that is there already, people might think you are "cheating". Maybe people think you are just stealing topics to start new discussions? Do you think that about people when you see that their discussions are similar to old topics? If you find an old discussion about "your" topic, how old does it have to be for you not to worry and start a similar one again? Are there any "ethics" that you go by in the posting of new discussions!

Yes. I would just search for headings which interests me then if it is similar i will also post my response.
Then i would browse the comments of people in the discussion and see what opinion i can give.
Sometimes i skip on to the next which is more interesting or i will start a new discussion myself!

No I don't check to see if there are other discussions on topics that i pick to discuss. But i have noticed that sometime there are similar discussions sometimes but just worded a little different. I found a discussion like that today and comment to both of them because they were started by different people.

Honestly I just start what I start. I know that sometimes they are going to be similar to something from some time ago but my wording might be different and the responses are going to be different because they are going to be from different users. I don't think I have posted anything that was an exact duplicate of anything else.
