Crazy excuses used to get out of work

I recently found out that a friend of mine used a pretty crazy excuse to get out of work. She called in and told her boss that she had stubbed her toe a few days before and that the toe had become so infected that she thought she might have that weird infection that causes body parts to be amputated. She was on her way to the ER. Now, none of this actually happened, but her boss believed her. It made me wonder...have you ever told a silly or unbelievable story to your boss, and got away with it??

I remember one when I used to manage a store... This isn't really an excuse but more of stupid side... One of the guys that worked over night called me up & says, "I can't come in cause it's my day off!!!" He sounded little drunk at the time... I said, "Ok, I'll make a note of that... Just don't let it happen again" & he responded without a pause, "I'm so sorry, I would come in if I could but what can I do, it's my day off..." Another guy told me he couldn't make it in because he slept over at his girl-friend's house & when he woke up, he couldn't find his clothe or his girl-friend...

I once told my branch manager in our local library that
I had a childhood friend coming all the way from my
home state to see me and could only be there one day
so please can I have the day off and make it up later,
she bought it. the truth was that my husband insisted
on my taking the day off. she never did find out that
I had fibbed to her.lol
