Have you ever tripped over something in the middle of the night?

Awhile back, I heard that the number one cause of broken toes was bumping into the coffee table in the dark. And, it always made me wonder why people didn't just leave the lights on and walk around the house at night.
But, then I grew up. And, everything changed. Sometimes I get up in the middle of the night to deal with the cats. And, I find it tough to go back to sleep if I turn any lights on, at all. My brain switches on and I can't sleep. Does that happen to you? Have you ever tripped over a coffee table or toys after getting up during the middle of the night in the dark?

I have tripped over so many things. Not just the end of the coffee table but as well as tripping over the cats, the dogs, walking into the TV and entertainment stands, walking into doors and once even fell down the stairs. Needless to say after falling down the stairs I knocked myself out and stayed there for the night to wake up and not be able to get up. Ended up breaking the leg on that one. Good thing my father in law noticed something wrong when the door to the basement was open. Fiance never heard anything that night either.

Oh my goodness! I hope you're alright now, though. Your story definitely takes the cake.

Yes I am ok now. When I broke my leg it was almost 2 years ago. So I should hope that I am all better now. :)

no i did notever trip over the things in the
dark, but on a bright sunny morning in August 2006
I tripped over an uneven spot on a sidewalk by my
favorite cafe and had a horrible fall. I broke
my left shoulder so badly the orthopedic surgeon
remove smashed bone and put in an artifical shoulder
joint. five days in hospital and three weeks in rehab and
a bill my insurance paid 86000 dollars for that fall.so
now I am really careful about things on the floor in my
home and make sure i have a clear path with a night light
on for middle of the night things as I do not ever want to
fall again ever.

Wow! I had no idea those kinds of accidents could even happen. I really need to start being more careful. Once I slipped down in the kitchen, but that just left my arm sore. Nothing more. I guess I'm luckier than I thought.
