Did the best man win?

I like both of those guys, so I'm not knocking them, but I was a little suprised when I heard the outcome. What do you think? Was the verdict due to talent or popularity? Did other factors weigh in? And what did you think of the performances, as well. Thanks!

I actually think that David Cook won because it WASN"T a popularity contest this time. I loved both Davids, they were both amazing singers. However, Archuletta was slightly less talented in the commercial area than Cook was. I could actually imagine buying music from Cook, but not Archuletta. While the younger David could sing with perfection, he was a little too perfect for a record I would buy. Still, I expected him to win because of all the little girls. I think they both performed wonderfully the night before, even if Cook wasn't quite as perfect as Archuletta. In reality, most singers aren't. This was a great year for American Idol.

this season is the best so far for me! im not a david cook fan but he deserves it! every week, i would wait for what he would sing. unlike david archuleta who's a bit predictable for me. aside from that, i think one of the factors why david cook won is because he was able to cater to more genre & wider age group/bracket. i will miss watching them... i cant wait for the tour!!!

yeah i'm also suprised when they announced the winner. i thought it's little David based on their performance. even the judges thought that archuleta will win the contest. their performance, little David did very well.

I liked David Archuleta the best myself. I thought sure he had it but no he didn't I was sort of surprised. At the dame time David Cook is a good singer and very talented. I think they both will do great.

I was a little surprised when i heard who the winner was, but to be honest i was hoping that David Cook would win. David Archuletta was really talented and I thought for sure he would win because he is young and has all the young girls voting for him. After Tuesday nights performances I thought David A. was the better of the two. David Cook was just off that night.
