Yes the title is correct. A friend paid me to take him to the casino last night. (Wed) Let me explain, he does not drive. There is a free shuittle service that is an hour long drive but the times they leave are a set time and he did not want to stay that long. I have taken Harry many a time to the casino and he has paid or offered to pay for gas. Well he said he'd give me $50 to take him and I could use the cash for gas or whatever. How can I turn that down. I had a comp of a $15 check for the casino as well so we left after my dad and I Dr appts. I put $15 in the tank. So in actuality the casino paid me to drive there. HAHAHA! This is Harry sitting at my patio table when he was here yesterday for a few hours before we left. He has led a very rough and violent life as an alcoholic and he looks it. He is only a year and a half older than me really. No I did not win but I had a blast on his money though. He did not win either. Has someone ever offered you money to drive them someplace and the amount they offered covered the cost of gas for that trip twice at least? To drive there and back would cost about $20 in gas only I think. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Have you ever met Harry? I don't recall. He is the one that comes over doing yard work etc ever so often. He's the one that dug up the one apple area for us when we planted them both. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM DADDY !!~

Like I said, he is a friend from my A.A. club and being with me keeps him sober. When he wants to drink he usually calls and offers me money to drive him to the casino. This is not the first time. But this is the first time he gave me this much to do so. Most times it was $20 for gas only. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Geez! I would love it if someone would pay me to go...I mean take them....to the casino. LOL! Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I have a friend that pays me twice as much as is necessary to take her to the doctor. But considering that I have to drive about 8 miles to her house to pick her up, and then another 10 miles to her doctor's office, I don't argue with her over what she gives me.

That's a good deal for you, since it's a place you like to go to anyway. I've had certain friends who gave me more gas money than I needed to take them somewhere, but it was something like a doctor's office, or something not fun where I had to sit in the car and wait for them.

I was once compted to play bingo, my SIL paid my way, and if I won we split. I shared $250.00 that night. With my luck, if I had been paying for myself, I would have won zilch, LOL.

i didn't drive but my hubby does... and no, we never have anybody offered to pay us to drive them somewhere... usually, we do it willingly and we are not expecting to be paid or rewarded for it... if we don't want or unable to help, then we simply say no... good on you for getting paid for your gas, time and service grandpa bob... i hope you have a good time in the casino with harry... take care and have a nice day...

You have to admit you got paid for your time and services. That is not bad; at least it covered the cost of going and coming and if you wanted to play while there you had a little to spend for a slot or something. That nice of you though to drive him. I know that he finds it hard sometimes to find a ride or someone to drive him where he need to go. At least you didn't brush him off like some others may have.

you got lucky. this happened to me the other day. A friend asked me to take her home, which was two hours away. she gave me twenty to get there, cause thats what it took. she would give me twenty when we got to her house to get back home on. well when we got to her house, she went in and said she didn't have anymore money. I got screwed out of some gas money. My husband was so upset, he said never again. cause he had a feeling thats what was going to happen.

hi grandpa bob that was really nice of your friend and' generous too. we are one of the few in all of Southern California I think that do not have a car. so one of our neighbors' asked us if he could rent our car space for fifty dollars a month and my son agreed. so the guy has an antique car that he drives and did not want to have to park it out front. he did offer more but my son refused saying fifty 'was fine. odd how things come up sometimes. I can imagine how much gas costs now days. happy posting from me to you.

This spring I was giving a lady a ride to work for a couple weeks - 3 days a week and only one way She got a ride with someone else home because she left 3 hours before i did. . I didnt expect her to pay me for gas at all I was doing it to be nice. And at the end of the two weeks she gave me 150 dollars. I was very surprised I tried to give the money back because that much covered my trips EVERYDAY for 2 week both ways and then some. I even told her it was way too much and she insisted. Gave the money back to her and I dropped her off at her workplace. Two days later I got to work a bit late and there was an envelope with the same amount of money and a note from her saying that She wasnt going to accept the money back and that she really appreciated my willingness to help her out. I put the money in my sister's education fund.

Grandpa Bob, the offer was too good to be passed over. You earn quick $30 which maybe you at least need a week or two or one month to earn in myLot. In Indonesia, I do not think it was polite to offer some friends money to drive him around. usually we just covered the gas money at the fuel station and treat our friends to dinner/lunch if we asked friends to drive us somewhere.
