So a very close friend of mine recently went to the mall did a little shopping and went about her day. Two days later she went online to check out her bank account as she normally does. She was in the negative! She couldn't understand she knew there was money in there yesterday! She couldn't have spent that much! Anyway looking at her account she realized there were charges she didn't put on her card. She called the bank and told them her account number was stolen. The problem is she also told them that she had shopped at the mall that day. Guess what they told her - There is nothing we can do about it. Because you acknowledged two of the transactions made at that mall that day, you may have forgotten that you shopped else where, they basically said you’re lying! Needless to say she was charged with a bunch of overdrafts and lost all that money. So be careful, if you lose your card don’t acknowledge using it at ALL! What would your bank do??? Do you know – for sure???

first off glad to hear she closed that account. I have noticed many banks in that area of the country are not customer friendly at all. I would have requested a different person to talk to cause that doesnt seem right. I know that both my bank I go through now and Bank of America policies have very different from that banks. they offer no question asked fraud prevention.

Wish they were around here but they aren't. She talked to every one up the line. Nope they wouldn't help. They like I said basically called her a lier. Funny thing is they knew the card itself wasn't used. It was just the account number - figure that out. Had to be an employee of one of the stores she was at. And yes she called those stores to tell them what happened. She called all the stores to tell them what happened. And let them know she won't be shopping there because they take stolen card NUMBERS.

amazes me that the stores wouldnt do more to help. what happen to the customer service in this country and the customer always being right... guess she could request the signature get pulled and sue the company for that ammount ... make them prove it was her that was there

I wouldn't know I guess. But in her case, she needs to file a report with the police and close out her account at the bank she is with. They obviously don't care about her business. When she does that she needs to make sure to loudly state why this is. The bank owes her an apology.
