What is your inspiration when writing? for most of us we need quiet time to focus and find an inspiration to write about something. What is yours?

I jot down ideas I hear in the street or up the school. Its good that way as you can hear many funny stories that you can fill out and make longer. Daytime television is also god to pick up ideas for writing stories and so is watchnig the telly with your children. I try to carry a note book with me so I can jot down main words and ideas and write more when I get home. Coffee shops are a good place as people have time to stop with there friends for a chat and talk about htere life. Most writings are stories about people so its finding places where people go and you can listen to waht they are saying. I do then need a quite place at home to collect my thoughts and ideas and to start writing about what i want to write, normally once the children have gone to bed or are at school

It depends. Most of the time, I listen to music when I write, it helps me come up with ideas. I think tangentially, so I come up with a bunch of different topics, then link them together. Kind of like brainstorming then connecting all the ideas.

My inspiration is the stuff that happens to me every day. I write a lot about my experiences, and wheter it's stuff to write on MyLot, or stuff that I want to write about professionally, my inspiration comes from my every day life.

For article writing, I tend to think of a topic in my head and go from there. I focus my attention on completing the task and then going from there seeing what happens next. It's crazy but it works for me and just try to focus my attention on a subject. Stories I tend to try to be creative and think of a plot that makes sense and come up with the perfect ending and a general idea of what I want to do. I'm probably gonna try short stories and make a collection to start off. In general, it depends on what I'm looking to write exactly.

With stories I just think of the most rediculously impossible scenerio I can. Then I build around it with plot, characters, etc. All my poetry comes from personal feelings about events that happen to me in real time. Music just pops into my head at random, usually while driving to work at 630am so I just flow with it and record it on a personal recorder so I can write it down at a later, safer time.
