Do you have a tattoo and what does it mean?

May 22, 2008 10:15pm CST
Most people have themselves inked for art's sake. Some do it because they love pain. How about you? What's the reason you got a tattoo? What does your tattoo mean? ^_^ as for me, i only have three tattoos. one's at my back: it's a sun with the moon and a star inside it. it simply means that i wanted everything in life and even if i have a lot already, i'll keep on struggling for more. the other one is a set of red vines on my ankle to remind myself that i am human and i belong to the earth. lastly are stars near my bikini-line. it signifies that even if i'm like this, there's a bright side hidden somewhere in me =) there you go! go on and tell me about your tattoos ^_^

i only have one tattoo and it's inked on my left ankle. it is written in "alibata". the alphabet used by our ancestors. it means "go" which represents my decision making. when i find myself thinking twice on something, i just look at it & reminds me of, "hey! try it, at least. you have nothing to lose."

I don't have a tattoo but I am going to Las Vegas this weekend and I plan to get one while I'm there. I'm 46 years old and I always wanted one and now I'm going to get one. I can't wait. Any suggestions?

lemme see...it's always good to get a tattoo that best symbolizes you or your beliefs or at least something you enjoy. don't do names! everyone ends up regretting having some name tattooed on their skin. ^_^ if you're a traveler/backpacker, an eagle would be great. but of course, it's always up to you :D

wow. you got a lot of tattoos there. ^__^;; the sun, the moon and the star tattoo is interesting. i don't have a tattoo but i wanted to have one when i was in college. only a henna tattoo that is. i wanted to have something like yours only without the star. its a moon and sun symbol from the anime cardcaptor sakura. i think it will look nice on my nape. or maybe in my lower back. i just love planetary objects. come to think of it, if i can't have a fused sun and moon, i can go with the planetary symbol for uranus, or neptune, or pluto, or saturn, or all of the symbols for the outer planets. and then, if i can't have that, then i can go with a fish bone. i saw this tattoo at the back of one of my friends and i just thought that it looked really cool. and that's just to show that my work concerns fishes.

i agree! there are so many people who has a tattoo on their lower back. i thought i would go by the fad. ^__^;; do they use needles too if its only henna? yay! glad to know you know and love CCS too!

actually, no they don't :D henna's a dye most people use for hair. it usually lasts for a week or 2 if it's quality henna :D

fish bones are cool! they look nice and tribal ^_^ and i also think having one on your nape is better than on your lower back since everyone has their tattoo down there :) but it'd hurt like crap since the needle's gonna bounce there but hey, you're a tough girl probably :D thanks for dropping by and btw, i loove cardcaptor sakura too :D

31 May 08
i guess i'm not really that evil ^_^ when i had it on i was feeling a little that way but then again i'd hate it if people would associate me forever with that word hahaha ^_^
29 May 08
nice :D chinese characters are cool too! hmm...what's your chinese name? just curious... :D i henna-ed myself chinese characters all through-out summer and my favorite was the one that translated: "extremely evil" LOL... thanks for the compliment and for dropping by too! have a wonderful day :D

by the way. i am planning to have a large spider tattoo on my back. i want it to cover my entire back. the reason why i want it is because i have a fear for large spiders. with it inked on my back, i will learn to overcome my fear. i want it to be meaningful. i do not want to have a tattoo just for show-off. but i guess i need to save more before i can get it done. & besides, i do not have the time yet. i asked an artist how long would it take. he said around a week's session & 4 hours per session. that eats money, time, & much pain. ;)
30 May 08
all i can suggest is that you take a big doze of anaesthesia before getting it on ^_^ the spider's cool but yeah, it will hurt...my friend said needles for black ink is actually thicker or it takes more needles to do black. whichever it is.
30 May 08
yeah, the time's a lot more complicated to think about :D and money too...

I do not have tatoos in my body. I used to wear temporary tatoos before that can be easily removed. I never had any permanent tattoos. I had lots of tattos of different shapes and arts before all of them temporary ones.
30 May 08
:D why not try the permanent ones? just curious...hehe have a great day!
14 Jul 08
No i do not have any and I do not intend to have in the future. But for the ones that might consider to have one be very carefull because you are going to have your tattoo for the rest of your life, you want to make sure that you do everything that you possibly can to take care of it during the healing process. In addition to that, because you probably spent a good deal of money on the work, care is key to getting the most out of your money spent. Many people who get tattoos will end up being ill-informed on the best ways to care for one. In addition, please note that all people are different in terms of skin types and healing times so results may vary.

I have six tattoos, and each of them means a little something to me. That's a lot to explain, though. :) I got my first one because I was turning 30 and wanted to mark the occasion. I got all of the rest because once I had my first one, I wanted to keep going back for more. :) My tattoos are Egyptian symbols (life and knowledge), Chinese characters ("serenity"), Norse runes (my initials, as well as the meanings "dawn" and "joy"), and a large piece that incorporates German hex signs and Celtic knotwork (also heavily laden with meaning). So very diverse cultures, and many more to come. :)
30 May 08
wow! really diverse! but that's true, once you get inked, you're gonna come back for more. it's actually addictive. :D i'm very interested on the Norse runes...i don't think i have seen one like that yet ^_^ thanks for dropping by!

I have two tattoos. One is a butterfly on my left shoulder which im not really sure why i got it other than i like butterflies and think they are beautiful. I have another one on my wrist. Its a gemini symbol with a bleeding heart in the middle. It represents the fact i can both sides in all things, life is eternal, and my heart may always be broken but i will survive.
1 Jun 08
that's profound :D isn't it painful to have one your wrist? coz the skin there is quite thin...

Its on the top of my wrist were the skin is thicker not the underside. And the one on my shoulder actually hurt more.

I have a small moogle on my left calf from the RPG series Final Fantasy. I have grown up with those games and they have continued to be my favorite, with every new incarnation that is made. Some might call me childish because they don't understand, but I am proud of my tattoo, and I got it as an 18th birthday present.
16 Jul 08
^_^ i wouldn't call you childish :D afterall, having a tattoo is all about yourself: what you want and what you have decided on. i think final fantasy's great too :D
