It is not threatening, it's just that sometimes we tend to be in denial that depression is something we need to talk of. Depression as a topic seems to be very heavy, that, sometimes negative energy tend to circulate, and since humans want to feel lighter instead of discussing sad thoughts, thus the fact that there is less talk on depression. :)

That's fine, thank you. But the depressed get in to a disadvantageous situation where their presence is not being attended to. Unfortunately they look normal outwards and they are discriminated when interacted with.Is n't it a pitiable situation ? How to address it ? I started a blog on the subject at www.sripedia.blogspot.com but I do not know how to take it further.

I have seen your blog. :) Anyways, I guess, people who are depressed need someone to talk to. I have been depressed myself but I did not share to my loved ones even my friends about my feelings because I was scared that they will never understand me and that whatever they say would not help me feel secure or feel good. I could not say that I am totally over the depression state, but right now I can like share to others how I felt back then, and that telling them of my experience somehow in a way is helping them realize that whatever they are going through, they will in a way overcome it.

depression is overloading the mind with multiple thoughts or pressures, that the mind or brain cannot able to withstand..so we burst out in depression and tension.

I suffer from depression and take meds to get thru the days. Some days are better then others. But sometimes when people hear I have depression, their attitude towards me changes.Depression is a label some people use against us.It is a form of prejudicism.Because depression is usually not visible,it is not accepted as an actual illness or disease.Add this to the normal problem of rarely allowing someone into our thoughts and problems, you can probably see why many people avoid the subject.I hope this explains why some people are reluctent to talk openly and honestly about depression.

I think people tend to deny that they are depressed. People has this kind of having a hard time opening up and tend to keep their feelings all by themselves. In my case, as much as possible, I would keep it but if it's too much that's the time that I open up. I tend to resolve my depression by myself. It's what makes me strong.
