I know this two accompanies together, and it's a sign that there will be heavy rains. But I don't know, until now, I haven't gone through it. In short, I'm afraid of it. Specially when lightning strikes. It always comes to mind that what if it hits me? I don't know how to overcome it.
Are you like me? Are you afraid of thunder and lightning too?

If I'm inside my home then suddenly there's a loud noise, I would really jump up from where I am for I got spooked out. But I don't worry much about it hitting me, it only comes in one in a million.
But I remember an infomercial in National Geographic back then, that men are three or four times most likely to struck by lightning than women. I just hope that I'm inside a shelter or my home, if ever lightning strikes.

Something happened here one time, not sure if you still remember the blast that occurred here in Cavite days before Christmas. The place was just near to us, at first I thought it was just a lightning or that someone threw a big debris in our roof. But later found out that it was actually an accidental explosion, our roof even shook as I was sitting in our couch..
It's always safe to stay indoors when there are thunderstorms, raining is just fine for me..

It's very unlikely you'll be struck by lightning. Especially if you're watching it from the comfort of your home.
I love watching big storms, they're so eerie and beautiful. There's a lovely smell in the air too. One of my cats agrees with you though, she's terrified of the bangs and hides under the bed!

I remember my sister with you dhangski, when we were kids, she used to hide and cry under the table. It scares her a lot. I am not really, I will just stay quiet in one place and wait until it will subside! but, moment like this, I will find myself saying a lot of prayer! Maybe it helps me ease my feelings!

We knew lightning came first, since light is faster than sounds, so I was not afraid of thunder, yet sometimes we got surprise by it. Lightning will only strike people ( heard from some expert ) if we are;
a) wet
b) near with trees
c) wearing metals like rings, necklace

Thunder doesn't bother me unless it's loud and takes me by surprise. Lightning however does bother me. Being struck by it does scare me a bit. I've seen the damage it can do just by hitting trees so what can it do if it strikes a person?

no one has strong enough to fight or resist lightning because once you will be hit by this you will die. of course all of us have fear of this but the problem is how can you manage your fear that you are not caught by somebody that you are afraid of this thing from nature.

ABSOLUTELY!!! I hate it!! I'm not quite as bad as when I was a kid and would hide under the covers and pray to God to take it away, but I won't go outside in a lightning storm and can't stand having to drive in one because I want to cover my face when I see lightning and that's probably not a good idea from behind the wheel. I don't mind the rolling thunder so much, especially if I can tell it's from a long way away, but if I hear roll after roll after roll that gets increasingly loud over time, I know a big one is on its way. I start getting tense and nervous waiting for it to hit. I really dislike them so much!!
As for the rain - I LOVE the rain. I just hate the sound effects and light show.

When I was still young, I admit I am really afraid of thunder and lightning, though more on lightning. I don't know if it was true, older people in the house used to tell a story about people who were hit by lightning, and they were burned. Now I am thinking maybe they just tell that story for us kids not to go outside or roam around when theres a heavy rain with thunder and lightning.
Now that I am old, though I don't experience it for so long now since I am here in Saudi where theres no such thing as thunder and lightning, I still admit I am afraid with it but little slight
