Hi All, For last couple of years I am seeting a lot of shopping malls gettin opened in my surrounds in delhi. Their concept is simple "Think Local, Act Global". They have directly tied with big companies and providing items to consumers on cheep rates. I have a little knowledge of this trade. What I am observing is they are not passing right margins to customer as discount. Thing which cost them not more that Rs. 6 is being sold for rs. 9, where maximum retail price if Rs. 10 and local shopkeepers are selling it for Rs. 9.5 as it cost them Rs. 9 as they dont have contacts with companies directly. A lot of proficts is being put by mall owners in thei pcokets. Also now they have started selling things like vegetable, pulses, floor, rice and all that and directly hitting employment of thousands or shopkeepers. What is your opinion.
