Has anyone here ever been a victim or road rage?

Two months ago my daughter's family was verbally assaulted for several miles by a man in an SUV who was under the impression that my son-in-law and his brother were Mexican/Cuban/Spanish. He called them terrible names and wanted them to pull over so he could kick their a$$es. My daughter was 9 months pregnant and my two grandsons were in the vehicle. Everyone tried to tell this bigot at every traffic light that he was mistaken and that there were children in the car...he could see my blond haired daughter and the two boys in the back...but he would not stop until finally he pulled out a handgun and waved it at them before speeding off. Luckily they had their cell phones with them and the police stopped the guy a few miles farther down the road. He turned out to be a member of law enforcement in another county!! I guess harassing people and scaring 2 year olds is his off duty hobby. Fortunatley, the local cops knew my son-in-law from driving a tow truck for the county so they believed him and this man was charged with three counts of assault and one count having to do with displaying his weapon. A court date has been set and I want him to receive the max. Anything could have happened when that gun came out and my family could have been injured or lost their lives...over ignorance and hatred. Anyone ever experience similar situations on the road?

i've never had anything that bad, but i've been yelled at and talked junk to, i drive a truck with tinted windows, so most men go off until i roll down the window and they see its a chick.. here in california its kinda the norm to release a lil steam on the freeway, lil steam is okay, i'll cuss and flip someone off, but i wont follow them and i never throw anything

I used to encounter aggressive drivers in Maryland but, here in rural Florida, everyone is normally very nice. I cut someone off when I was new here and got a friendly wave instead of the finger so this incident really shocked me. Thanks for your response.
