My grandson's car was acting up. it was dieing at the stop lights and would act like the driver couldn't drive a stick shift. He made an appointment with our mechanic, but my granddaughter talked us into taking it to O'Relly's parts store. They did a diagnostic test and found the problem was a 4 inch hose and added water. All it cost me was a cup of coffee. If we had taken it to the mechanic it probably would have cost us at least $30 to $50 dollars. I feel so lucky to have taken it there. They have helped out this way before. Now I'm going to ring my grandson's neck if he doesn't check the water more often. Do you have a parts store that is that helpful?

I know some times it seems like the biggest problems can be solved with the simplest solutions, and around here we have a Advance Auto Parts which is where we usually go for parts and advice.

We have an Auto Zone, they are all over the country. They will hook up your car also to a machine that can tell you alot of things that are wrong. They will test the alternator and the battery also for you. They have even installed wiper blades as a courtesy. Good going for you on finding out the remedy for the car problems was so simple.

That's wonderful that that guy was so helpful, just proves there are still such people in the world! I've been helped before, but only at a Mom & Pop type store (you know, the old guy who has a part shop in the neighborhood that's been there for years.) If possible, I usually try and get parts there, they are far more helpful than the guys at the auto-parts super-stores.
One time we were having a downpour, really heavy, and my driver's wiper went. I was closest to the super-store and was in line. When it was my turn to pay, I told him I couldn't figure out how to get it off to replace it, was there some trick on this type of vehicle. He suggested that I go home and ask my man. So, I left the part and said thank you, and he didn't get the sale. I sat in my van until it calmed down a little bit and drove the 1/4 mile to the private owned store, the guy was most helpful, and even went out in the rain and did it...with a smile on his face too.
You can't beat customer service at the private owned parts stores, they value their customers and know what customer service (and repeat business) is all about! I avoid those super-store auto parts stores unless I really have to have that part today and can't wait. I'm glad that fellow was so helpful to you! A cup of coffee is such a small price to pay for something so nice and unexpected :-)
