I know about garlic and onions. Are there any other foods that naturally lower blood pressure or cholesterol?
Exercise is a good way to do it, I know. How about yoga, tai chi, meditation? Has anyone used these methods?
I hate being on so many medications and want to get off my blood pressure meds.

There are so many things out there nowadays that help lower blood pressure and cholesterol. Foods that are rich in calcium, potassium and magnesium are the key.
Calcium: Many vegetables, plant based foods such as soy milk.
Potassium: most fruits and vegetables, especially oranges, bananas, potatoes and tomatoes.
Magnesium: dark green vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes.
I also heard that dark chololate helps to lower cholesterol.

Good information! Thanks! I love everything except for the dark chocolate. I'm a milk chocoholic. I even love white chocolate. But I've been eating a lot less of it in recent years, and have cut down on the caffeine.

Cutting down on the caffeine is also
an excellent way to help lower
blood pressure.
Along with the many other things
mentioned.
That's what I've heard.
A friend of mine gets a spike
in his blood pressure every time
he drinks coffee or tea and had
to cut out caffeine completely!

I know one exercise which really helps you.It is a breathing exercise and commonly known as anolom vilom pranayam.Do this exercise for 5 minutes.
Steps are as follows.
Close your right nostril with help of thumb.
Take a long breath.
Then close your left nostril with the help of index fingure.
Hold the breath for few seconds.
Release the right nostril and leave the breath.
Then close both nostril and remain breathless for 4to5 seconds.
Repeat it for 2 minutes initially then increase it for 5 minutes.

I'm going to start doing that! I know that breathing "right" is essential to good health and have always believed that holistic, or alternative, medicine is so much better for you than medications.
Thank you!
(I just did it once and definitely felt calmer afterwards!)

I have high blood pressure too. Here is something that's helping keep it under control , and even lower the pressure - that's Lime Juice and Lemon Juice. I don't know if it would work for every one, but it's working for me ! And, they ate very tasty too ! LOL !

I like to make a glass of lemon/limeade every now and then. Maybe I should have it more often?
