Should Media be allowed to demand Candidates Records?

I saw on CNN that this topic kept coming back into discussion and I just do not like what Im seeing. First their prying into his medical record past but now seem to be demanding more and why are they discussing McCain's LDL levels?? It just seems ridiculous to me.
Ok. I am a Hillary Supporter so I do not speak just for one candidate but I think we as citizens really need to look at this situation. We would not want people prying into our medical information so why should we tolerate it like this? I just think that this is a very vulnerable topic that needs further discussion within Congress or among the Republican and Democratic party coalitions because I do think it does affect us. The Media has a way of sneaking in between the lines and I just think we should stick up for what is right.
Now I understand what others may be thinking because I thought this too, do we want a president elected and then 10 months later having a heartattack? Things are not so clear cut and its a fact that what appears to be seemingly healthy people having heart attacks because stress affects EVERYONE differently. I was also bothered by the media prying into Ted Kennedy's medical condition (although it sounds like he's a pretty laid back guy) because I personally saw it as a complete lack of respect for him and his families privacy.

A person's medical records are supposed to be private unless that person decides otherwise. If McCain made it public, there's nothing that can be said about the matter. I personally don't see the reason to stress the guy's age or health. McCain's not but 2 years older than Reagan was when he became president. It's not like just because the guy's 72 he's just going to keel over and die the first day on the job.
I'm pretty sure the media has taken it upon themselves to create every reason they can, that isn't related to the candidates actual policies, to discourage voters from voting for that candidate. Sadly enough, some voters are eating it up like candy, too. I'm no McCain supporter, but even I think the media is wasting our time with this. Why can't they spend as much detail and time in making sure we know the voting record and policies of the candidate, as they do in making sure who the candidate knows, sleeps with, talks to, etc.
It's gotten to the point where I just don't watch the news anymore. I get more detailed and accurate information from these message boards, then I ever will from Fox, CNN, and MSNBC combined.

Whoops - my train of thought derailed on that previous comment. I forgot my closing statement.
In the interest of the freedom of the press, the media should be allowed to request a candidates medical records. However, they should not be allowed to access any such private information without the consent of the candidate. The media's right to a "good story" should not outweigh the right of a candidates privacy.

If someone is running for public office, their medical records should be public, because people need to know if there is some condition or something that would hinder the candidate's ability to do the job, and it's sure better to know that BEFORE you vote, not after.

Most everyone has to pass some sort of physical for their job, but i do agree that his medical files should not be made public and if the news does make it public that they should be fined an enormus amount of money(only thing that will rein them in)as should whoever pried into his medical file. This issue has nothing whatsoever to do with who i do or do not support in this election. Their are just some things (seems to be less and less) that is personal and confidential and should stay that way.
