My son's friend came by unexpectedly yesteday after school. We moved out in the country and my son has just started to adjust to things after almost a year and he's made friends here and there from school. This boy lives down the road from us. He came over and wanted to hang out with my son so they ended up playing outside for awhile then came in and played a couple video games in my son's room. When the boy entered in the house he had his dog with him.
We started noticing these woodticks crawling around our floor in the living room then on my son and on his friend. Woodticks creep me out bigtime and I can't stand them. I get the heebee geebees from them. I'm guessing the dog picked up a lot more than the kids did.
After my son's friend went home, my son got in the shower and I checked his hair for more ticks and found one sucking blood on his head Gross so I had no choice but to pick it off and flush it down the toilet. While he was in the shower, my hubby and I searched my son's room for woodticks and found about six of them crawling on his bed, pillows and walls. Gross! My son has brown carpet in his room and it's difficult to see them so this morning I checked him to make sure he was tick free and sent him off to school but when he got home, he was watching tv and said.. look mommy another woodtick and it was crawling on his hand. He went and flushed it. I hate those pests!
Woodtick season is in now and it will last till the end of July. A long two months of these to deal with! Yuck

I'm just getting itchy thinking about them lol. I can't stand them but that's part of life I guess. Not sure why God created these little critters but I'm sure he has his reasons for it.
Thanks for your comment and I have to say you're very lucky you don't have woodticks around where you live.

I hate ticks. We have 4 dogs that like to run around out in the woods. Even though they get their tick medicine two of them still come back in with ticks. This is the time of year when I am glad that they have their own room and they do not wander around the house.

I can't stand them either lilybug. It's a good thing you have a room for them because that would be tiring trying to find them all. I just hope you don't have them crawling from under the door into the rest of your house. They are so tiny and creepy.
My neighbor's dog sleeps under their house ( I know it sounds weird) there is a big space under their house for their dog to go under and live. They never have her inside their home. The dog is just way to big it actually looks like a black bear lol.

I didn't realize they had spray for woodticks but it's sure worth looking into. I've been hearing about woodticks spreading lime disease and west nile virus to birds and other wild life animals and on occasion there's the odd person here and there that end up with that as well.
Yeah next time that kid brings his dog we'll tell him to stay outside or tie her up or just don't bring her again but I would find that somewhat cruel to tell him not to bring the dog with him b/c he has to walk here and it's out in the country where there's lots of wild animals so he's just bringing her for protection I'm guessing. Plus it's a nice walk for them both.

Yes they are gross creepy little bugs that animals such as our dogs and cats can attract. I used to live in a wooded area and this kind of thing happend all the time. I just wish they would come out w/ some kind of tick replent for those kinds of things to avoid them. I haven't seen any yet just the mosquitoe one. I hope you find a way of getting rid of them and I wouldn't let your son's friend bring his dog into the house no more but tie him up outside instead. Good Luck take care.
