Have You Ever Met Anyone Famous?

I have. I used to live in the same neighborhood as Hulk Hogan, in Florida. (We were not in the rich mansion section.) The first time I saw him, it was in a gift store where my mom worked. My son was about 2 1/2 or 3 at the time, and we got his picture with Hulk Hogan. He loved that picture. Even had it blown up to poster size so he could take it to show and tell in preschool. I also met Glenn Campbell. He did a private concert for the sales group for which I worked - House of Lloyd/Christmas Around the World. After the concert, when I went back to my hotel, I discovered that Glenn and his band and manager were in the same hotel! My roomies and I sat with the manager and talked. Even shared our pizza with him and the other guys. The next morning, we met Glenn Campbell in the restaurant. He was leaving as we were entering for breakfast. He gave me and my roommates pictures that he had autographed for us. He was going to leave them at the desk, but was able to hand them to us personally. So, do tell. Have you ever met anyone famous?

I guess I ws very lucky I used to tend bar in Lake Tahoe at Harrahs. I met and chatted with a whloe bunch of stars. They used to have private parties and for some reason They would want one or two bartenders and I got selected alot. Many but a few stand out Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. (wonderful person) Steve Martin, and my favorite was John Denver and Richard Dawson. I aslo lived in Sun Valley Idaho, one of my favorite places in the USA, there I've met and talked to Clint Eastwood great spirit that guy. Demi Moore,Bruce Willis,Yoko ONO and the beat goes on!!!!! tdemex

I think the one that I have met that stands out the most is my mind was Jim Ed Brown. The thing that makes that stand out in my mind is the fact that it was a disapointment to me because he just seemed as if he did not have time for his fans. The thing to this day that gets me is I have no idea of how he can still be remembered by soi many even after all these years and seem so much as if he thought the world owed him something? Yes he is a good singer but to this day after getting to see himin person it takes away from getting to see him on things now. To see him on anything now is disheartening. But I never got close to Conway Twitty but when I saw him in consert if I had been standing and we had got close enough to where I could have touched him I would have went to my Knees. As it was as close as I got to get to him We almost got arrested and would have if it had not been for Him waving to a guard to leave us be. Now thats a night I will never forget.

He's okay not real friendly at least to the bartender, some are way cool. One thing that really disappointed me was 2 years in a row he did the same routine. The arrow thru the head thing and the same material. That ws not normal at all. when the stars returned for a show they all had new material. Hope this doesn't let you down. tdemex

I just stood in line with everyone else not knowing who was going to be there. I got his autograph and took a picture with him. The crazy part is I am A SUPER HUGE GREEN BAY PACKER FAN. GO PACK GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At a pro golf tournment for celebrities and golfers I met Craig T. Nelson. I got his autograph and spoke with him for a while and found out him and my mom went to school together... Fun story.

Sounds like fun. Isn't it intersting what people went to school with relatives? I've discovered a few of those celeb types who my relatives knew before they were famous.

That is cool. I was trying to remember some of the different "famous" people I have met over the years. How famous are we talking about here? Kris Kristoferson comes to mind first. I met him at a convention where he was the entertainment. I spent my 30th birthday with Earth, Wind and Fire... it was the best. They gave everyone in my group free tickets to their concert to celebrate my birthday. Roger Staubach, Ed "Too Tall"Jones, Harvey Martin, Dave Manders, Jim Zorn, Danny White, Randy White, Hollywood Henderson. George Peppard. Salt and Peppa, B B King and Lucille, Brian Wilson. On a more local level...Coach Ron Prince KSU, Coach Deb Patterson KSU, Coach Frank Martin KSU, Nichole Ohlde, Jackie Stiles, Kendra Wecker. These are all people with whom I have had conversation. I have shared "air space" with Doris Day, Pat Morita, Whoopie Goldberg, and Kurt Russell.

That's an impressive bunch of names, amazon13. I also rode the bus once with Franco Harris (of the Steelers way back when). Funny thing was that he was sitting almost underneath his picture that was posted in the bus. Can you imagine today's football players riding public transportation????

You're one lucky dude!! I've never met anyone who is famous or a celebrity in real life. However I dont think I really miss meeting them! Life still goes on and meeting lots of regular people itself has added so much meaning and excitement to my life. However I wouldn't mind bumping into some famous people once in a while!

You're right. Regular folks can be just as interesting as celebs.

That sounds like a once in a lifetime experience. I have met mostly country music singers: Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Owens, Crystal Gayle, Marty Stewart, Aaron Tippin. Also met: Pete Rose and Kevin Harvick.

I literally bumped into George Lynch in the supermarket years ago. He has a very nice tushy! I've met Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Stu Hamm, Neil Young, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, Carvin Jones, Gary Hoey and a bunch of other guitarists that I'd have to look in my ticket collection to remember! I had a argument with Glen Campbell when I worked at an answering service once and when I gave his message to Stevie Nicks she apologized for him.

He's had a rough life, despite is fame and financial success. What is it with celebrities that they're so messed up? I feel sorry for the guy. I hear he's actually very nice, and generous to charities.

That's too bad about the argument with Glenn Campbell. I heard that he went through some bad times.

Some years ago now i was with a gang of friends in our local Burger King and John Barnes (Famous footballer) was sitting in the corner with his family. None of us had the nerve to go up and ask for his autograph at first, but in the end one of my friends did. He also signed autographes for the rest of us and did not complain about it at all. He was very friendly. I have also seen Maniac Street Preachers (famous British pop group) play live before they became famous and their lead singer went missing. I was also standing in a queue at a Burger King, at a London train station and a famous chat show host was stood in front of me. A couple of months ago me and my partner had a famous D.J Tony Blackburn sitting behind us in a cafe. We didn't approach him as we are not really fans but he did give us a big smile when we walked passed.

Okay. No way I can compete with that. This is my humble story. When I was in 8th grade social studies, our class went on a field trip to DC. I was standing with a few friends one night, trying to decide what we should do next. I was all for going back to the hotel, when a car pulled up across the street with American flags all over it. My friend was impressed and wanted to stay, so I was stuck there. Next thing I knew, three more cars with the same flags pulled up. And the last car, you guessed it. It was worth waiting for, because even though former President Nixon messed up, it was very exciting at the time when we called to him, and he waved at us! We tried taking pictures, but without a really good camera, we only got a so-so picture. That's it.

Okay, I don't feel quite so lame now, thanks. Good thing the elevator didn't get stuck, or you wouldn't be here to ask this question! lol :)

Oh, I think that's pretty cool. I've never been that close to a President. (Although I did ride the elevator with the mayor of Pittsburgh once long ago - Pete Flaherty.)

Doesn't that figure? I used to keep a good camera with me at all times, but stopped when my son hit the teen years. I really should start doing that again. You never know what you'll see.

Nothing wrong with thinking you might be famous one day. Dreams do come true...especially if we work towards them. And if you are famous, then we can all say, "I knew Dorislee when..."

I met The Rolling Stones. It was a contest I won for designing the best banner. I also got front row seats. It was awesome! I also arranged for my sister to meet Sha Naa Haa, her favorite group way back when. I got to meet them, too. Other than that, local celebrities is all. I lived near a TV/radio station and often saw them when I shopped.

I've never personally met anyone but some of my friends have met JD from scrubs(cant remember his real name, it's slipping my mind.. haha, *sigh*) He was supposedly at some restaurant called the Glass.. something or other, can't really recall the full name of that either. My memory is definitely failing me today! My other friends have met a few other people as well but I can't really recall their names. I'm sure i'll meet someone famous eventually, afterall I don't live too far from newyork, and i've heard some actors live up in philly and pittsburgh which aren't too far from me so it's only a matter of time till' I run into one! I imagine Hulk Hogan would be intresting to meet. I always wanted to meet Jack Black, Jack Gylleenhaal(In one of my favorite movies, donnie darko), and a few other people. As well as a few American Idols although they're really no different then us, it would still be interesting to hear about their lifestyles. 'specially the idols before and after they went on American Idol. =O

I met Vincent Price once when he passed through our town on his way to somewhere more interesting. And I have met several race drivers both past and present on various trips to the tracks and drag strips. My most memorable, when I met Al Holbert in Sebring Florida when he drove the Lowenbrau Porsche.
