Have you read the book or watched the movie "The Secret"? It talks about Law of Attraction. It typcally says that like attracts like, and everything you do, everything you have or whatever you are right now, you've attracted it! And that it is possible then to attract only positive things in your life and get whatever you want. What do you think guys?

I've seen the movie, read the book and recently acquired the book on CD. I highly recommend listening to it instead of reading because you will get so much more out of it. I have been studying this for almost 20 years now and although it seems that it doesn't work at least half the time, I never quite gave up. I've been on a mission to understand and state this so that everyone can understand it. The answers have been coming to me after listening to the CD every single time I get in the car. A positive thought has hundreds of times more power than a negative thought. The key is how often you are having those thoughts. For instance, if you focus on your goals and what you want most of the time, that occasional negative thought won't have much power. It's when our predominant thoughts, the thoughts that influence all of our other thoughts and behavior - the ones we're thinking during most of our waking hours that either positive or negative things will be attracted to us. It makes so much more sense, at least to me, when it's put that way. A good example of the positive being attracted when our predominant thoughts are positive is when a person is in love. They feel good all the time and it seems that nothing can ever go wrong, and it rarely does. When a person might be focusing most of their thoughts on worrying about a situation, it seems that more and more things will go wrong. We've all heard and seen the old adage, "When it rains, it pours" used to describe a chain reaction of negative events. Someone who thrives on drama and thinks about drama all the time is going to attract more drama into their life. The person who is mainly focused on loving and giving to others and feeling good about their accomplishments or self-discipline is going to attract mostly positive things into their life. How we are feeling emotionally has the same, or maybe even more, impact. On the CD, Rhonda Byrne questions whether that's the Universe's way of letting us know that our thoughts are mainly negative so that we can work on changing them. She compares our minds to television - if we don't like what we're watching we can change the channel. To stay focused on changing my own thought patters, I listen to The Secret and other related audiobooks regularly because if I'm not constantly reminded to be positive I'll "fall off the wagon." If I have to listen to it every day for the next ten years I'll do it, because it's working in my life. You can get a free 8 lesson course from the teachers in the movie. You can burn all but one of them to CD, Lisa's is 5 minutes too long. They will only let you have one per week so it doesn't get overwhelming. Great. I appreciate the links you're providing. Like I said below, once you started it, information will keep pouring... just like what the book/movie said. :)

The secret behind the "Secret", is really about how you live your life on a daily basis. If you work consistantly towards a goal, it will eventually happen. If you just sit around and day dream about it, well, you will probably just spend a lot of time day dreaming. To make the dream come true, you actually have TO DO something about it.

I read the book "The Secret". I liked it. I think there is a lot to be said for the Law of Attraction. On some levels it makes a lot of sense to me. I get a little tripped up by the idea that WE can control all things by learning to control our thoughts. But it was a interesting read and I enjoyed it.

I have to admit that I haven't read the book entitled 'The Secret' nor watched the movie with the same title. And I was about to pass this discussion for other mylotters to respond when I discovered that there were other similar discussions started by other people here. But eventhough I haven't been able to get a glimpse of these two (book and movie), I have been believing this and trying to practice these 'doctrines' in my life. In fact, I've mentioned about this "ask the universe for what we want in our lives" in several of the discussions here in mylot. No offense meant to you or to others who have a different perspective on this. Honestly, I find that sometimes, some of our wishes do happen when we least expect them to. More often, we either forgot that we wished for them sometime in the past or that a Greater force is doing everything to grant our wish. Anyway, I'm going to list this in my personal list of the things-to-buy so that when our funds become substantial (hopefully, in the soonest possible time), I'll be able to buy this book or buy a DVD copy of the movie. If I may add, I'd want to have a mini library in our future conjugal house.

I haven't been able to read that one but even though i don't read it I have been always believing the law of attraction eversince. I think it was really something right. I was also been advised by that kind of one chinese friend and I really felt that he is right when say said that one mus always look at the bright side of life to make his life a good and enjoying one. I have been doing it for years now and I think it applies on me so far I haven't experience any bad things.

I just got done reading the book 2 days ago. I think that it takes hard work to get things in life and they won't just come to you by summoning them. But don't get me wrong, I have read the book and I enjoyed it very much. It's great motivation to think more positively which WILL change your life for the better. I have found that when I do worry about things too much they usually do happen, and I have found that if I focus on something and believe that I can do it then it does happen. This book does have a lot of truth in it. I will try using the law of attraction in my own way.
