This is a really interesting story, even more so since this woman is from my home state. I can't even't understand how this woman is alive right now. She didn't even have brain waves, and her heart stopped. Her family finally made the decision to pull the plug but left her on a ventilator until they decided whether or not they wanted to donate any of her organs. Then, she waks up and starts talking. The only thing the nurse can do is apologize again and again. http://www.newsnet5.com/home-backup/16363548/detail.html What do you think about this? What would you do if you were the woman that woke up after her family thought she was dead?

Wow, this is amazing. I'm just wondering whether or not she was in a form of stasis that I've heard about once or twice before. Where the functions of the body are so low that they don't register on any equipment.

I thought about that too but what about rigor already setting in? That's what makes it stranger.

She must be lucky.I sometimes wish that could happen when someone in the family is in the ICU

Wow...obviously her work here isn't done yet. I hope she takes care of herself and treasures her remaining time. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I knew there was a reason that I didn't like doctors and hospitals! I thought it was interesting that when the nurse apologized, the lady just kept telling her that is was okay and not to worry!

Apparently it is still VERY difficult to decide when a person is clinically deceased? But I think this is a clear-cut case of mis-diagnosis. She probably has a whopper of a legal case. I'd look into that, if I were her?

Wow that is amaxzing story and the family has an amazing woman among them. I'm just happy that it was a joyful out come for the family. Now If I were the woman I think I would just be sure to make them notice I was alive and understand it all after it was explained what has happened. I also would probably be very thankful for the second chance that I would have gotten in life. Thanks for a great article.

This really intrigued me as I've heard similar stories over the years. I've previously discussed this subject with friends with various responses. I know personally of several examples where the doctors and priest had given up and wanted "to pull the plug" but the family would not give up and the person survived. I suspect it was the family's love and the person's will to live that resulted in survival. Of course, there is also the factor of divine intervention. I tend to think medical monitors are not sensitive enough to detect extremely faint signs of life and a will to continue living.
