Anyone out there still likes the relaxation of a Lava lamp, I don't have a nice warm fire glow of any sort and i find my Lava Lamp goves me an affect of a warmin glow, last week the globe blew and I had to get a new one well just in case you do have one yo need a special globe for Lava lamps, ordinary globes are no good, I had to find a place that selld Lava Lamps to get a globe so if you have one I would suggest you buy a spare globe when ever you are near a shop that sells Lava Lamps...I was without mine for one night and gees I missed it...

Several years ago, my son had asked for...a lava lamp for his birthday. What a strange request, I thought. But, not to leave him..."in the dark", I bought him one. I think it was blue/purple and I've never seen such beauty. To think, I've been without one all these years. There's something about watching the wax rise and fall...almost like music, don't you think? Sadly, his broke and I don't know where it is now, but perhaps one day I'll get another one...this time for me.

You can get some very different ones these days, all different colours and some that have like sparkly confetti being blown up in them and they are very reasonably priced, I got mine not to long ago on special for $14, I always wanted one so I grabbed at the chance... they are very relaxing to watch..thankyou for the response...

Lava lamps are cool.
I'm sure my cats would freak
out and attack the lava lamp
with all the funny things
going on inside.
Or, my kid would knock
it over by accident.
Or one of the crazy cats
would.
But if it were just me I'd
have one in a heart beat!

I love my lava lamp. This one is my second one and doesn't work as well as the one I had before. It was dropped a couple of times and ceased to function. I didn't realise the bulb might have blown so I gave it away with a box of other stuff.
The first one used to create the most wonderful shapes ans it moved up and down. This one just goes up and down in blobs...it's in no way exciting.

Oh I remember lava lamps and had an original one and a glow wheel which would send patterns around the room too. I haven't one anymore but would love to get another as the house I am in now doesn't have a fire and I used to love laying on the rug waching the flames in my old house where I had an open coal fire. Think I might go out and treat myself to one on payday now. Thanks for reminding me of them. Ellie :D

I just bought my first lava lamp a couple of months ago at a Dollar General...I love watching them!! My best friend has a seventies' themed room and has lava lamps all over the place. I think they're so cool and should never go out of style. =D

It's nice that you find it so relaxing. Actually we do have one that someone bought for us but we never really think to use it. I might do now though as I could do with something relaxing and a warm glow a bit like a fire, although ours is blue and I'm not sure that we'd get the same effect, maybe more a relaxing cool glow! Thanks for the idea though, it would be good to actually get some use out of it. Happy relaxing :)
