Okay, it's not easy for me to share this family recipe but since I live thousands of miles away from most of you and you won't get a chance to come over and try this at my place, you might as well cook and enjoy it yourself. Ingredients: 1 small piece of chicken (preferably the white meat) 1 tablespoon light soya sauce 1 teaspoon chilli powder (you can add more if you want it spicier) 1/2 teaspoon meat curry powder or coriander powder (optional) 4 cloves of garlic 2cm big slice of ginger Pinch of salt Cut chicken into bite size pieces. Blend garlic and ginger into a paste using a bit of water. Add soya sauce, chilli powder, curry/coriander powder (if using) and salt to the garlic/ginger blend and use it as a marinade for the chicken. Let chicken marinade for a minimum of 1/2 hour. Deep fry chicken in hot oil. Feedback please after you've tried this.

It sounded really good, until you got to the ginger. But leave that out and i might try it to see what my family thinks about it.

Oh dear, sorry you (or your family) don't like ginger. I love the smell of the ginger/garlic paste. What I'll suggest is you use more garlic and a smaller piece of ginger. Once the chicken is deep fried, your family might not be able to tell that there's ginger in there (I hope!)

It's not my family (they are all boys and as long as it dosen't eat them first they have no problem with anything). The smell of ginger makes me nauseous. But maybe i could overpower it with garlic and it would be okay (i love gsarlic).

cjgrooms, I'm suprised ginger makes you nauseas as ginger is usually recommended as a cure for nausea. Anyway, you know what they say... one man's meat (or root vegetable in this case), is another man's poison. Anyway, do give it a try and let me know if you enjoyed it.

Spot on, I am originally from South East Asia so I guess the recipe is of a local flavour. I think what makes the chicken taste good is not just the chilli powder, but the rest of the ingredients as well. Has anyone tried it yet?
