Help with urine!

So I had some of our friends stay at my house and watch my dogs while I flew out of town to visit my parents and my in-laws. They did a terrible job! I don't even think they were here more than once a day and they were supposed to be staying here at all times. Well, the dogs peed on my carpet and it smells so bad! I sprinkled baking soda all over the floors last night and let it sit overnight. I vacuumed it up today then shampooed the carpets with regular cleaner and some odor remover added to it. It helped a little but not enough, the carpets still smell! Any suggestions about what I can do to make the smell go away?

Goodluck, we had to replace our carpet because nothing I tried worked. It soaks into the underpad(if you have it) and that is where the smell comes from. Unless you keep shampooing over and over that might help. Go to a pet store they have sprays you can use but the ones I tried didn't work very well. If you can lift the carpet it might help to clean the under pad with bleach and wait for it to try before you put the carpet back. Sorry only advice I have for you!!

Thank you for the advice! I was afraid of that! I actually bought the Bissell brand pet urine cleaner for my carpet cleaner. So far so good. The smell is gone, but I'm going to give it a few days to set in before I claim it's good to go. Nw, I'm working on the tile floor. Who knew the smell would stick to that? I've bleached the floors twice and I can still smell it by my back door. Ugh, I am so mad!

Bissell brand pet urine cleaner I should get myslef one of those. When mine make a mistake I will scrub with a pet shampoo . Later, when it dries I will use a pet smart orange claner. That usually works . For the most part they will not make a mistake . I kinda had that prob when my bro watched our house.
