That happened to me today with my cat. I was so worried that i had lost him last night. After an hour of looking around threw the house, me or my mate couldn't find him any were. We had the few guests at the house even look. Well I was rather upset, because i love my cat to death and being that he is so pretty and the way he is marked i was worried some one might pick him up and possibly not return him. Any ways I went to sleep seeing as i had a headache and then got up this morning, walked outside to do my search and found him huddled up in a corner of the house shaking and meowing. Needless to say he was ok and i brought him inside relieved i didn't have to make lost posters. Now my question to you is has something like this ever happened to you? what did you do, and did you ever recover your animal?

I take it your cat is an indoor cat then? When I was little my stupid big brother left the side gate open and my rabbit got out. we looked all around the green and a nearby horse field and couldn't find her anywhere. I was so upset and convinced I was never going to see her again. She turned up at the old people's home. They had a sign up in the window saying they'd found a rabbit and when we went in there she was, in a cage in the corner of the reception area. I was so happy I cried. Unfortunately it did happen again and this time we never did get her back. R.I.P. Pepsi.

Yea It tears me up to much to have my cat as an outdoor pet. I'm happy i found him. So sorry for the loss of your rabbit though. Hopefully this wont happen again.

Thanks :) I've only had one rabbit since then and it was strictly an indoor rabbit with supervised outside playtime. It seemed pointless trying to teach my brother how to use a gate properly! I couldn't have an outdoor cat either. I'd worry constantly that it might get hit by a car or killed by a fox in the night.

I had a cat once who disapperared shortly before we were going to move. He was gone for 3 days and I was worried I would never see him again anyway I went out side to catch a smoke and there he was. I think he was in bushes in front of the house the whole time. he came to the door when he was hungry.

just last month, my cat has snuck outside when i wasnt looking, when the a/c man was here to put a new a/c. when the man left, i searched for the cat and couldnt find him in the house. all of the sudden, 5 hours later, i was looking out the window, and i saw the cat walking slowly in the street. i went outside and brought him in fast.

None of mine were ever out and lost overnight. The closest we came was the time when 2 of my cats left when the door blew opened and no one noticed. One was on the porch and came back inside. The other ran way in the back. It was night. I had a flashlight. The only thing I could see was her eyes. I climbed the hill and grabbed her just before she went up a tree. It wasn't easy going back with a squirming cat and a flashlight, but I made it. I'm so glad everyone was safe.

One of my cats, who was an inside outside cat, disappeared for 2 days. We looked for two days and talked to the neighbors, no luck. The morning of the 3rd day I opened the front door and there she was. She had two of her front nails pulled out, and we figured she had gotten shut up in someones garage, and she lost the nails scratching at the door. She never went outside after that. I am glad, I worried about her when see was outside.
