What are your cat's names?

My house just got 2 kittens and I am not sure about the name for the one. Right away we named the one female Crystal. The male on the other hand has been very hard to name. He is always in to everything and I do mean everything! He is this sorta faded orange color. My oldest child first started calling him Tapioca (very strange I know) and I have no idea why and when I asked him he said "oh, I'm not sure". Then after we laughted everytime one of us would say Tapioca he started calling him Cinnamon. I asked him why we are now calling this kitten Cinnamon and he said "well everyone laughted at me for calling him Tapioca!" I like pets that come with names. I am not very creative when it comes to naming them, and they are stuck with these names for the rest of their lives. I would just like to know if other people have strange or unusual names for their cats/dogs/bunnies/fish whatever else sort of animals people care for. Would love to hear from everyone that takes care of a pet oh, and what type of pet you have.

I couldn't honestly tell ya what to name your male kitten for I am bad w/ trying to pick a name for animals as well. When I got my kitten from a freind at work they had already named him so I was lucky. My cat's name is Butterball he got his name for when he was born he was the plumpest of them all and the name just fit him right. He is still this way and he's the best. He's a year and three months old now and I got him when he was five months old. I hope you come up w/ a name cause the only one I can think of is morris like in the t.v. commercial he was that color of your cat but I don't thik your oldest will like it. I do hope you come up w/ one for him. Good luck take care.

I haven't seen Moris on television for so long (my oldest probably doesn't know who he is lol) but I really like Butterball for a cat. Do you call him that or does he have a nickname?

We have a 13 yr old cat named Jasmine. Everyone loves this cat and she 'needs' to be loved by everyone. I tell everyone that she is 'needy'. We also have a male cat named Sasper. Sass or Sassy for short. He is a just year old and already much bigger in size than Jasmine. He weighs in at 14 1/2 pounds. He is growing more every day and not an ounce of fat on him. We also have four fish. We didn't name them.

I have two 5 month old kitties I got them from the humane society I wanted to take all the cats they had I hated seeing them locked up in those little tiny cages. My kitties names are Frisky and Jazzers (Jazzy) they are both grey tiger striped tabbies. They are the most lovable kittens you have ever seen.

I know what you are saying about the humane society, when I went one of the cats stuck his paw out of the cage and grabbed me. It was hard not taking them all but I thought about all those cat collectors that you see on that pet network animal planet and I was like nah we don't need the cat police coming and taking them back to the shelter.

I envy you a bit, having pets. My partner does not like pets, while I am a self-certified cat lover. The apartment where we live in, though, harbors two, three or so strays who love to chow down on the food left inside our apartment building's garbage containers. Well, that's a cat's life in urban Philippines, I guess. But she does name the stray cats, and I am so very amused by that habit of hers! Whatever name she gives the cats, I would accept them, too. The cat with black spots on her white fur, she has named JRD -- acronym for "Junior Dilaw", or Junior Yellow in English. Funny though, JRD's mom only has a streak of yellow fur, but the yellow collor kind of stands out, so that's why my partner named JRD's mom "Dilaw" or "Yellow" in English. JRD's mom Dilaw is scared of my partner, by the way; Dilaw always runs away whenever my partner walks by. JRD is a different cat: she lets out a song of a meow whenever people pass by her, and that song of a meow always gets on my partner's nerves... sigh. There's another stray she named "Tigas" or Hard in English -- this fat, gray-striped fellow (and JRD's dad, by the way) wears a seemingly angry, I-don't-care look on his whisker-covered face, so that's probably why my partner named her such. I feel Tigas is also scared of my partner, but he does not show it like Dilaw: he gets petrified and just sits there looking at my partner with his hard-set expression while my partner passes by and steps angrily on the floor. And where am I in all of this? Well, I'm laughing secretly, behind their backs, enjoyed and amused.

I had the same issue with my husband chalky only with dogs. While he was growing up his family only ever had one dog and it turned mean after a while of having him and he started to bite. They had to put him down or something I am not really sure, but my husband had a fear of dogs. So, before we got married I decided to get a dog and let me tell you he was not impressed by the idea. I went to the shelter after work one day with my then 3 year old and fell in love with a dog that was black. I talked to him about the dog and he agreed to go and see the dog with me. While we were there they had a yellow lab that he just fell in love with. We played with him for a while and they told us that he was sick and had to go to a special part of the shelter. My now husband told him that we would take him home with us. Those two are so close now that the dog lays on my side of the bed after I get up in the morning. I guess he has over come his fear of dogs. Maybe your partner will change as well.

We adopted our dog from a shelter and his name was Trucker and we liked the name so we kept it. My dad is a truck driver and so we thought that it was cute with him doing that and all. I can understand your fear of dogs. I was bit by a small dog that required a trip to the hospital when I was about 6 years old. I think my husband just wanted me to be happy and he thought me having a pet would do that (which it did) and he trys to do anything that makes me happy. I think it was easy for him to over come his fear because our dog is such a baby. His tail is always wagging and he is happy just laying at your feet. He has never growled at anyone before and the mailman opens my door to give him a dog bone a few times a week. Maybe when you have the pet talk you will win. Good Luck with it, I hope you do!

we all call them miming, pronounce like the word me, then put the ng sound on the next me, miming, my brother likes to take stray cats in, he never take more that one at a time though coz my mom dont allow it, but when the cat leaves or disapears or die hell take in a new one, and he never realy gave them names, and none in the house realy got interested to give them names either, so we all just call them mimings, thats how we call a cat here by the way when you want them to come to you

That is very interesting, but I don't think that I could personally take in a stray and not get attached to it. I would have to keep it. Do you have a lot of strays where you live?

My husband and I each have a cat. His cat's name is Mysti, and my cat's name is Shakti. We are both extreme cat lovers, and each had our cats before we met the other. It's a good hing we both love cas so much, because as we like to say "we had the cats before we had eachother."

i have two 2 year old cats. the first i got as a kitten from a coworker. i wanted to get a cat and found out she had some kittens to give away and went to see them. there was one that was all black but she had already promised her to her son, so it took the other that was a tuxedo (black and white). i had to wait a few weeks to take her home because she was too young, but i named her sunny. she has a few nicknames though-like skitz and fluffinater-don't ask! the other i adopted last september from the local shelter. i had intended to get another kitten, but when i was there looking at them, this one older cat just sat there quietly while the others were running all over-and then she just looked at me and my friend said she thought she was meant for me. so the workers took her out of the kennel for me and she just settled right onto my shoulder and started purring away. so of course i took her! she had been at the shelter for a long time and they didn't think anyone was ever going to take her home. (we have a no-kill policy). her name was "zero" (imagine what a terrible name for a cat that no one seemed to want?) so i re-named her karley which means "free". -and of course she has her nicknames too-cuddlebug and mcfarley (karley mcfarley) or i call both of them babygirl sometimes. anyway, that's my story!

We have two cats. Piewacket is about 5 years old. Hubby and I inherited her when hubby's dad moved from a house to a condo. Obviously, she had her name before we got here. We also got a kitten at a no-kill shelter. Opera was about 6 months when we got her and she had also already been named.

The others came with their names. Frankie was actually named Feno, but we changed it. Sassy was originally called Blackie, and Mitten was called Kitten for 2 years before she got her name. And we changed Rockstar to Roxie, but only because its too hard to call. Then we have a couple of dogs that came with their names, Cujo and Zoe.

hello, we had our first pet called 'Fluffy'. She's very very fluffy and white. She's a Persian cat. We named her 'Fluffy'. She's very very cute, unfortunately she passed away just 5months ago. We felt really really sad esp our 2.5yr old daughter would sometimes asked where's fluffy. However, a month ago, strangely that we got a cat keep coming to our backyard. We believe it's a she and she's from our neighbourhood?! Anyway, we started feeding her. She's very shy at start - kept running away once she saw us but now she's used to us and she's very very friendly to us esp our daughter. Our daughter actually named her 'Percy' because our daughter loves 'Thomas the tank engine' and one of the engine's called Percy. It's our of her favourite engine and that's how she wants the cat called 'Percy'. :-)
