Which pet would you rather prefer...a cat or a dog and why...? I would prefer a dog anyday.Nothing against cats...but they sleep a lot and sort of do not connect with you...!!! But dogs connect and interact with you a lot and are damn useful....!!! Having a pet dog feels like having a buddy...not a animal...!!! What do you say....?

I prefer cats. One cat really interacts with us, but the othe doesn't. I think it depends on the cat's personality.

i dont know.... sort of i feel dogs interact better....Cats are known to sleep 12-15 hours a day.Plus dogs are damn useful in guarding the house etc. Saying all this i have a cat in my house...!!! he he he....!!! my mom can't stand dogs.Trying very hard to convince her.Maybe by a month or so...!!! Hope for the best!

Cats. I grew up with them, and even having both a dog and cat in the house, I prefer the cat. Yeah he's more distant. But he's just calmer, and nicer then the dog.

I prefer a dog as my pet, because dog is cuter than cat. But, the main reason is that the dog is very royal to the man.

Where I live, there are coyotes. We don't have cats because if they accidentally get out, they could jump our high fences, and then be eaten by coyotes. Dogs on the other hand, can't jump a high fence, and they are safe in our yard. So we have dogs. Plus the dogs alert us to when strangers are on or near our property, which makes me feel much much safer. :O) So it is dogs for our family..

I choose cats because they're not as hard to take care of as dogs and they don't smell!

I like to be greedy and have both! Usually a couple of each! The only difference between my Cats and my dogs has been, not having to walk them in the pouring rain and not having to worry that they'll be bored and destructive if left alone too long. My Cats greet those they know just as much as my Dog does, and with as much enthusiasm, and they play just as much, but unlike my German Shepherd, they aren't likely to deter 'intruders' or 'protect me'! Though there are at least 2 breeds I know of that would try! One of my Siamese Cats actually attacked a friend who he thought was an intruder. It's unfair to compare the two anyway, as they are very different animals. The wild cousins of our dogs are all Pack Animals. Like us, they have to have cooperation and interaction to survive. They have different roles in the hunt and those instincts were used to 'train' them to do the jobs we required of them. Our dogs see us as 'substitute' pack members so willingly cooperate. The wild cousins of our Cats are Solitary most of their adult lives! Cats were tolerated or kept because they hunted vermin which quickly infested our homes and farms. They didn't need to be taught to do so and they didn't need cooperation from us. I think most people like dogs more because of the subconcious recognition of the similarity in natural behaviour!

the only choice i can make is the cat because i cannot keep or touch dogs. it's against my religion. both are cute though.

Nothing beats a cat. Cats curl up and purr in your lap. A cat doesn't bark at nothing and scare you out of your wits. A cat can learn a lot of things. A cat doesn't slobber all over you or jump on you. Cats are loving, sweet and always doing something amusing. I love to watch my cats play. One carries around a toy and talks to it. It's very sweet.

i like cats better because they dig a hole in the earth and do their business and you have to shovel a lot of dog feces and they require more work. but the truth is i would like both a cat, dog ,horse, bird ,fish ,rabbit. i love all animals. right now i just have one cat. once i get a place to live and a yard i plan to adopt another cat and a small dog. i guess its cool to go for a walk with a dog and meet ppl that way. however remember that each cat has a totally differnet personality. some are even dog like.

i like dogs more, not realy into pets, but if i have to choose, ill pick a dog anyday against cats, cats are kinda nice too, there are some peculiar things about them that are intriguing and realy silly too sometimes, silly things like u know when they mate theyre whiny and loud, with cats you kinda dont know what theyre thinking, its easier to understand dogs, and theyre less destructive too with households furnitures, much easier to train and they look like they are capable of emotional attachement than a cat, i dont know that for sure since theyre animals, and you can never realy tell about their emotional capabilities, but with a dog, sometimes youre guessing it right
