A Time For Yourself, A Luxury or A Necessity?

Ever since I gave birth last year,I haven't gone to the parlor to have my nails done, to the spa and skin clinics and for a massage.. I didn't forget. I simply have no time to do all those yet because I don't wanna leave my baby and 9 year old son with the nanny..I don't wanna bring my kids with me while I'm inside the Spa..My husband works at night and so, sleeps during the day. Besides, I'm kinda guilty if I attend to myself and do all those luxuries while my husband works hard.. I do my own nail polishing at home because what kinda woman would want to see her nails dirty and untrimmed. My eldest son massages my back..When we go out, we go out as a family and I would be guilty also if I let them stroll the mall while i'm in the parlor.. For me, it's a luxury because I'll be spending a lot for those and we all know how expensive it is to have a baby in the house..What with all the diapers, milk, vaccinations and all..But, It's also a necessity. My gosh,I'm a woman! I'm entitled to have some luxuries from time to time too.. Well, How about you, women out there..What do you think??

It's not a luxury but a reward for being a mother, a housekeeper, a caregiver, budget officer, errand girl, etc. BUT you must not do it regularly with a short time interval or else, your budget will suffer. I call for home service for my manicure and pedicure and recently, a masseuse comes to our house every week because I was having back spasm because I slipped months ago. I did not bother to see a masseuse when I slipped and now, its got worse so I am really trying to have it corrected or cured. I am not that vain and I prefer my hair long so I could just tie it when I am doing something. I had my hair relaxed 3 years ago when I passed the board exam and for me, I just deserve it.

I live near your city and I have a "suki" already who charge me 60 for manicure and ped and 50 for a haircut. I know it is expensive so I don't usually have it in salons and spa. I am not also that vain and I don't really care how I look most of the time.

hey chrysz. Here, only the beauty parlors have manicurists doing home service. When I lived in Makati, I knew somebody who doesn't have a parlor and just doing home service, so that was cheaper. Here, if it cost P75 manicure and P75 pedicure in the parlor, when you ask for homes service, it doubles the amount. So i would be paying P300 total..I'd rather do my nails than pay that. That's already a 400g can of milk for my baby ..But, if it's my hair, i really go to the parlor coz I have a very long one..thanks...

hi chrysz. I did try home service a few times but here in my city, home service costs twice the amount of regular charges..So, that would be impractical too..But we do deserve to be treated like a queen at times - when the budget permits it.. thanks..

I am not a person who get used to the luxury life. As I know earning money isn't easy at all. So I don't want to waste money. I have to spend my money in the right way. Besides, I have a family and I shall be much more responsible for them. I love China

I'm not that vain, too. But sometimes I need a breather even for a few hours..After that relaxations, I'm renewed and ready to take on all my responsibilities with a smile on my face..thanks for your post..

I'd say it's absolutely necessary, even essential, to have time to yourself otherwise you'd just burn out. If you can treat yourself in whatever way, you are nurturing yourself and the better you feel in yourself, what you give out to others becomes of better quality.

Unfortunately, I have never gone to the place of Spa. Parlor? yes I have been maybe twice a year? You are right, women are intitled to that kind of luxury. Wow!! It's a great feeling to see ourselves nice. But with the cost of living today, and yes.. I also have a baby who needs milk and diaper plus I have hired a nanny for my little girl then I have 2 grade schoolers who are in a private school, Oh!!what an expenses. With this situation and the condition of our financial standing, I could not afford to have that luxury. How I wish I could.

I know what you mean and frankly, I am ashamed to spend money on those luxuries..I don't wanna spend and have a problem later on because we're short of money for the milk and all..But, we women do need to have a day to relax and rejuvenate..So, I guess when I'm finally making a hundred dollars a month with my blogs and reviews, I will have some extra money for occasional trips to the Spa or parlor..thanks..
