Raining Buckets?

I need to find some larger containers for my vegetables (if you've read my earlier posting in this forum you know why).
I've been wracking my brain as to where I might find some that are free, but I just don't know.
I know when I worked in a donut shop as a kid, we got all of our fillings and such in large buckets, probably 5 gallons or better, and those would be perfect for my needs.
I'd like to find somewhere in town that has them that I could get before they just throw them away, but I don't know what kind of places would have large buckets or pails anymore.
Do any of you work in a place that uses something like that, or have any clue what type of business I could call and ask? Any sort of bucket, pail, or tub would be great. I'm just drawing a complete blank here.

I would have to agree with jillbeth. All restaraunts will have them as well as some grocery stores. You could always try your local freecycle group. Will have to join b4 you can post thou. Someone in my local freecycle group was asking the same thing and got a very quick response with 20 5-gallon buckets.

I've got to make a run into town soon, so maybe I'll stop in at a restaurant or two and see what I can come up with.
As for freecycle, I tried that. Got one response, offering to sell me some.
I reported her.

Good for you on reporting her. Freecycle is just that FREE. How dare she try to sell you some on that site.

Waffle house, and Huddle house, both get their margarine in 5 gallon buckets. I am not sure about other resturants, oh and they also get their pickles in green 5 gallon buckets.

I love both of those places, but unfortunately we don't have either one of them here.
I wonder if Bob Evans would have them. I go right by there whenever I'm in town.

I'm not quite sure where you're from; but here in the Philippines, we get some buckets free from various establishments when we purchase their products.
If I'm not mistaken, these companies include Kentucky Fried Chicken, Selecta ice cream, Magnolia, Arce dairy. There are still some others but unfortunately, I forgot their names.
But here's another option which you might consider. Why not try asking from your neighbors; they might have spare buckets or pails which they don't intend to use anymore. In the process, you could exercise some of your socializing. But if your neighbors live far from you, this might pose a problem. Anyway, I guess you'll be able to think of some ways to solve this predicament you stated. Good luck and happy gardening!

Very strange that you started a discussion such as this, because I planted my cherry tomato plant in a blue plastic garbage can. So I was looking just today for something that I could plant my seedlings in when they were ready to transplant and came across these pails for $1.00 each at the Family Dollar Store today. See Picture!

Restaurants are a great idea. I'll have to check that out.
Thanks!
