Hi Im not a graphic designer, but I can relate to you. I can say that I know how to program better than designing pages. Most of the people I know think that designers and developers can never exist in 1 person, but I also know of a few who do quite well in both fields. From my point of view, it depends on your interests and eagerness to learn. Nothing can stop us from becoming what we want. So good luck to you. ('v')!

I am a programmer and use Photoshop extensively for my website development related works. I have not used Corel so no comments on that. You don't need any great effort learning Photoshop. The GUI itself is the Help. The problem is the jargons that are used by these s/ws that make us think that it is something that we cannot understand. You can always use Photoshop help to get along with specific words. Just start using the s/w them search the net to get help on what you want to do. You will learn faster. Best of Luck. Bye...

Yep, good luck to you. I am not a graphic designer, either, but I love to play around and create themes for my 3 different websites. Everything I know is self-taught, trial and error, and I have a blast doing it!

I am wondering why do you prefer corel? Corel is no doubt a good product, I been using it as far back as its ver 3. Unfortunately Adobe products are the industry standard for graphics design at least in my area. I had difficulties migrating to adobe. If I'm having a hard time with adobe I'll do it in corel and import it to adobe. My methods is unproductive.

So you are a solid corel like me. It appear that learning how to use a graphic editor is not the problem, producing a great one is. Everybody is a work-in progress when it comes to graphics design. If you want to use it in commercial purposes then you have to keep up with current trend and style, color combination(whats in and whats out) and objects selection(true picture, vector or 3D). Use the internet to visit great pages, magazine and other print media, billboards and learn from them. Do not be contended with what you know in terms of image manipulation and effect, experiment and discover new things. Unless you want to be like Picasso then do it your way. Good luck to you MatejScorp and happy posting.
