We have scorpions in Georgia too but, they are smaller and less venomous, not even really deadly except for maybe to people who are allergic to their bite, than the ones you will find in the desert. They are only about the size of a bobby pin for your hair. I actually took a picture of one that my cats killed in my house. If I can find it again, I will upload it and put it either on my profile page or in your discussion. But, she was probably bit by one of the smaller ones like where I live. From what I am told, they hurt a bit worse than a bee or wasp sting but, are rarely deadly unless someone is allergic. On occasions, some small children and the elderly, as well as some animals, can find themselves sickened by one of these scorpions bites, even to the point of being fatal. But, they are not really as bad as the ones you will find in the desert and other places that are known for the deadlier relatives.

It makes me think. Few years ago it was similar story but not in the store, it was on airplane...
In both cases, how wired and frightening it can be....
Is Wal-Mart responsible for bad inspection?
In both cases scorpion traveled with shipment from other countries.

I believe that Wal-Mart should be held responsible for putting things out for sale that can contain something to be harmful to a customer. The country to sent it, is responsible to Wal-Mart, but Wal-Mart is responsible to the customer. They both dropped the ball on this one.

My father encountered a scorpion when he was working at a cotton factory one time. They had to roll out big bales of cotton and one day there was a scorpion inside of one of them. Luckily they didn't get hurt and luckily this girl didn't die. I wonder where those watermelons were from?

I am glad to hear the little gril will be alright. I know I would be calling Walmart to pay for the hospital bill though and any pain and sufferening the little gril had. The thing is this could have happened to any store though. You never know what is going to be in those shipments.

Yes, one hears stories like that every once in a while especially when exotic fruit are involved. Apparently the employees regularly find insects and such (and not necessarily harmless) when unpacking the fruits and putting them out for display. Makes you think twice the next time you casually pick up some fruit;)

I have never seen a scorpion in reality. I just see on it TV.I hope the gril well .But I think Wal-Mart has great responsibility. They should check products carefully .

Oh good. Yet another creepy crawly thing for me to be petrified of. At least it wasn't the fatal kind, and glad the girl is ok.
