Exercise Ball?

Do you have one? I bought one when my precious mama lived with us so she could get some exercise. I had read that she could just sit on it and bounce and this was even good for her. I cannot find my info that came with it but I know my grand-daughter loves to roll on it. I was wondering what all I could do on it. Now, I am 53 and have arthritis so I can't do all those things that I have seen done on it. But I need to know some easy exercises that can be done with the exercise ball. It does have the arm bands with it for arm exercises also. Thanks for the help. God bless.

Hmmm I have one of those too, though I don't think I have even blown it up yet. Maybe that is something else I will have to do. It is good to sit on while sitting at your desk typing. Which I'm about tired of this desk chair, I might just have to blow it up and see how it works!

I think if nothing but sitting on it and bouncing a little it will give a little boost. Thanks for the post and God bless.

My daughter has one of those balls it has gone from her bedroom to the garage, I have seen people at the gym use them to do crunches, but I have never fancied it, I would probably fall of. My back still bad cant do my steps yet can just about manage to take dog for a walk, old age setting in.

You be careful so you do injure your back more. You can build up slowly when you get better. God bless you and thanks for the post.

Thank you and bless you, I was getting better and I lifted my grand - daughter up yesterday should not have as she is over 4 and I think that is what has made it worse, she came running to me to lift her and I did not have the heart to say no to her.

I'll be watching this discussion closely. I'm 54 with arthritis and scoliosis and need some exercises to tone me up and maybe help me lose some weight. Those exercise balls don't cost much, do they? How do you blow them up?

They come with a foot pump to blow them up. I do know my mama was in her 70's and I sit it on the stand, (make sure a stand comes with it when you get it.) and she would sit on it and bounce. The rehab where I took her to get her strength back had her sitting and bouncing on it. so we did it at home also. I think this one with the stand to hold it from rolling as much was about $20. Thanks for the post and God bless you. Dragon, we are going to get some exercise here aren't we?

Yes, we are! Mamacathie inspired me to get a pedometer yesterday and I'm surprised how many steps I take in a day. It's 6:30pm now and I've taken 3760 steps today! That's not trying to take any extra ones. I think if I get an exercise ball and some other low-impact things I can get into shape before the end of the summer! Hope the ball works out for you. I want an exercise bike but can't find one I can manhandle down to the basement. Still looking!

You can do crunches and side bends. I've tried both and they are pretty difficult to do.

mamacathie I have read that you can lie on it on your tummy and move your arms and legs in various swimming strokes to strengthen your back and legs.just a suggestion. I do not use one myself.

I have a big purple one. At one point I was using it for a computer chair and had been able to sit perfectly balanced cross legged on the ball. Now I havent used iti quite as much since getting a chair for my birthday. I had found a page of exercises to do with it. I also have a movie i used to use with it. the links for the exercises i had bookmarked are http://www.getfit.com.au/html/excercises/ball.html http://en.chatelaine.com/english/health/article.jsp?content=20070607_153156_4664
