I put this in people because it's not really about religion per se, and although the discussion was inspired by current and recent political news it's not really about politics, rather it's about people's personal habits and views. Let me explain a little better: I'd like to ask a few simple questions of anyone who goes to church (or synagogue or any place of worship) on a regular or semi-regular basis or ever has done so, regardless of what your faith is or was. Please just answer them honestly because there's no right or wrong answer. I'm going to make it more of a multiple choice quiz than an essay. 1/ How did you choose the church you attended? a. Family b. Location c. Friends recommendation d. Liked the pastor, priest, rabbi, etc. 2/ If you considered yourself a very faithful member of the congregation was it because - a. You liked your fellow parishoners b. You liked the church itself (activities, charities, etc.) c. You liked the pastor, etc. 3/ If the pastor gave a "controversial" sermon and you weren't in attendance, which do you believe would be the most likely to happen? a. You'd possibly never hear about it. b. A fellow member would be sure to tell you about it. c. You may or may not hear of it the next time you attend. 4/ If you had come to realize you disagreed with the current pastor on a few matters, would you - a. Immediately quit and find another church b. Stay there because you still liked your fellow members and the church/denomination itself c. Stop going to church until a new pastor was hired. d. Still go, but maybe less frequently. 5/ Even if your pastor had married you and baptized your children and even had been the one to get you to join the church would you consider him to be - a. One of the most important people in your life b. Someone who had been good to you and who you respected even if you sometimes disagreed. c. Just your pastor, no more, no less. Like I said, there are no correct answers to this and I'm sure everyone won't answer the same. My personal answers are 1/a, 2/a&b, 3/c, 4/b/, 5/b Annie

Hi Annie...it was really good of you to drop by so we could catch up and begin chatting again. I commented on my site and wanted to drop by and chat more here because I have missed you too. This discussion is a little challenging for me to answer in current time because I do not affiliate with any organized religion on a regular basis. My spiritual views are not aligned to any one doctrine...although I see value in all of them to varying degrees. However, I was raised as a Christian and our family attended church on a regular basis so I will respond from that time frame so I can participate in your survey. Here goes... 1) A 2) I attended out of a sense of obligation to my family 3) A 4) B 5) B Interesting discussion and glad I could participate. We will keep in touch Annie...and even when I am away I love Mylot and special people like you so I will be back...that you can trust. Take care and big hugs... Raia

Thank you so much for responding, Raia. I understand what you mean because I'm not affiliated with any particular organized religion now either, although I'm still considered a member of the church I went to as a child. I'm so glad to read that you'll never really leave us for good even if you're away for awhile now and then! Hugs right back to you! Annie

The only one here I honestly can answer is #1 and the answer is A. All of my adult life I've attended church sporadically. I consider myself religious but not along organized lines. Of course I was born and raised a Roman Catholic and that is something you NEVER get away from.
