Yesterday my aunt and I decided to bake up a batch od oatmeal raisin cookies. The first set didnt turn out too well because they said to bake them for 10-12 minutes and we didnt even leave them that long and they burnt up.We finally turned the oven down and left them for just 8 minutes instead and they were great. The kids loved them and suggested we have a bake sale to raise a few extra dollars. The recipe is on the box of oats and they are delicious.

I just finished eating some oatmeal raisin cookies. They are my favorite. Do you think you could send me a couple the next time you make some? LOL

I learned a long time ago to not go by how long the recipe says to cook them. I also learned that cookies come out better if you use an aluminum pan. Non stick coatings on pans seem to burn cookies every time. My favorite oatmeal raisin cookie recipe is also on the side of a container of oatmeal.

I can't bake cookies. I use to decorate wedding anniversary birthday cake and sell them but cookies are totaly beyond my level. My daughter learned to bake cookies when she was about 9 out of pure self-preservation(i thought i had to bake cookies for the kids to be a good mother)After that she would just say you can talk to me while i bake the cookies!

Every oven differs as to the way they heat up. Recipes give a guideline but it's always best to keep an eye on things. And it does make a difference if you actually pre-heat your oven or not. Often it's stated in a recipe that an oven needs to be pre-heated.
Too bad though about that first batch. Good luck with the bake sale!
