The day I've been dreading...Our oil tank is almost empty and I have to have a delivery! I ordered the minimun 100 gallons and its going to cost me $449.90!! We use it for hot water as well as heat, so we won't use as much over the summer. What the heck will it cost this coming winter?$
Gasoline is (last I saw-its going up daily) about 3.80 which is probably a better price (although outrageous) here in New Hampshire than in a lot of other places. How much are you paying for home oil and gasoline? Are you doing anything to conserve? I plan on having a family meeting and cutting shower times to 7 minutes (maybe I'll get a hot one occasionally now!) And I'm only going to run the dishwasher once a day. I work at home, but when I go out, I'm planning my trips wisely, and doing some one stop shopping!

I live in southern Oregon and it's $4.00 on average. A few cents difference depending which station you go to. We went to the coast on Sunday and it was $4.15 at one station. We didn't stop there. Instead, we went somewhere where $40 only got me 10 gallons. Not much difference, but enough of a difference for me to drive all the way back to Coquille to get gas instead of getting it in Bandon, which is on the coast. Touristy places are more expensive in all areas, gas, food, motels, shopping. What would happen if we all stayed home, or walked, for a week. I can get everywhere I would need to go in a 2 week span by walking there. Once a month we have to take a 45-min. drive(one-way) for groceries, twice a month a 30-min drive for other shopping needs(dog food, toilet paper, etc), otherwise I can walk everywhere.
I don't power my house with oil, I use electric, but my electric bill is $150-$250 a month from October to April. I live in a short double-wide not a huge mansion, but I have kids who leave the lights on, and want the heat on, and want to watch tv while playing the computer. Right now in my house, my closet light and bathroom light are on, the light over the stove is on, 2 tv's are on and 2 computers are running. My kids are at school! Me and my boyfriend are making up for the absence of the kids!!

Don't even get me started on electric! Another thing I've been on my kids about-they don't want to wait 2 minutes for their computers to load when they get up or come home, so they're on 24/7! I'm guilty of wasting electricity too, I must say, but I'm trying, its a hard hard habit to break. I DO shut my computer down though!
My electric bill averages about the same as yours (at least yours includes heat!) NH has the second highest electric prices next to Long Island (which happens to be where I am originally from. lol)
Everything is just getting way out of control-the high oil prices are affecting the price of EVERYTHING!

i live in RI,which isn't much better-it was about $500
for 100 and $750 for a full tank.i got fed up and removed the old furnace,we now have gas at a set $150 a month.
$3000 for 4 winter months was just too freaking much.
they can keep it.

We don't use oil to heat my home or water. But, we do use gas and, my hubby handles that bill so, I don't know how much it costs us. As for the gas for my car, last I saw it was $4.00 for mid-grade and $3.85 for regular. I don't drive much. I drive to and from work and, I have decided that I need to lower my stress so, I do drive the 1 mile from my job to the local park to chill out with a book for my hour lunch break. I was even denying myself that for a while until I realized that it is unhealthy to deny myself some time to relax during my lunch hour. Because, if I don't leave for my lunch hour, I don't get a lunch hour and, that isn't quite fair as my pay isn't compensated for an extra hour of work each day. So, I take it or lose it. I take it. I only run errands once a week. Which means I will save them all until either Monday or Friday and then, on my way home from work, I plan my route to hit wherever I have to hit starting from farthest to home, to closest to home. Yup! Thanks a lot President Bush! You have managed to muck up my free time! Sorry! I hate to bring politics into this but...if you deny the facts, you are lying to yourself about whose fault our oil prices and the new lack of freedom to move around, it is.
