Kindergartner "Ignorant, Pathetic, Self-Absorbed, Selfish" To see original article please go to: abcnews.com look for article of same discussion subject and first line of posting. From: Franklin electronic hand held Dictionary & Thesaurus Ignorant--Lacking knowlwdge, stupid, unaware. Pathetic--Pitiful, arousing or deserving pity. Self-Absorbed--To be completely involved or occupied with self. Selfish--Taking care of oneself without regard for others and usually tending to self-assertion or self-satisfaction. The child is 5 years old people!! Where the heck did this "teacher" get her teaching degree? And for 13 years? How many other children are carrying this load and acting out because of her? For heaven's sake, Gabriel is only 5 years old!! Woodward should be ashamed of herself and I pray she doesn't have children of her own...if ever someone deserved to NOT have children this is it! Kristen Woodward is anything and everything but a teacher--to publically, (in front of his classmates) humiliate, belittle, and ask the class..."So you guys think, is that somebody you want to be with? And in unison, students replied, Noooo... How truly sad is this. According to Indiana State Teachers Association, "Woodward lost her cool" and she hasn't had a chance to tell her side of the story"--WHAT SIDE? WHAT STORY? It's all there on tape, there is no excuse. According to Carol Mooney, a spokeswoman with the ISTA, Woodward had trouble with Gabriel all year, also asks the question: "What do you say to a kid who is rolling around, punching, biting, kicking? What can a teacher do? AWWWWWA, What to do, what to do? HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO As a professional teacher's assistant in an after school program in NJ I can answer that question: You try your hardest to give that child some one on one attention, which is probably what he or she needs...you talk till you're blue in the face without hurting feelings, without assigning ugly words, and most definetly you do not include the class for opinions. I work in a very depressed area with many, many, if not all troubled children...these children are a product of their environment and the system and many times their parents influence, which is not the case with Gabriel. When 1 or more of my assigned children "act out" I immediately give the other children something to do, something fun and educational that reinforces what they are learning in their grade levels. I then will sit with my "actors" and draw, colo4r, practice writing their names and I have conversations with them about behavior in school and what is right and what is wrong. Believe me MyLotters, it works. So far this year I've saved about 5 children from suspension--which by the way I totally disagree with when dealing with grades K-3. The Edwards are primarilly concerned with the psychological impact the situation has had on Gabriel and how this will affect him in the longt-term. They are also exploring the possibility of civil action against Woodward and the school district. Go Edwards Family, Do It!! Tell me myLotters, what's your take on it? ~G~

This is so horrible. I think this woman should find another line of work. She should not be teaching, not if that's the way she treats even one child. Even if she was having a bad day, that child did not deserve that kind of abuse.

I responded to a discussion a while ago and I think it was about this. I read it and now that I read it again on abcnews.com I am shocked to see the words that the teacher called the little kid. It's disgusting and unprofessional for someone to say something like this. I mean I understand that sometimes teachers reach a point where they can't take it anymore but if that was the case she should have said something to one of her colleagues or the principal so that she could take some time to herself and not embarrass that child in front of all those kids. I am appaled to read something like that.

UGH!!!!That is horrible! I am working towards my teaching degree, and run a homeschool co-op. I teach preschoolers, kindergartners and a handful of elementary children on different days of the week. You bet we run into many conflicts here and there, but there is never a good reason to treat a child like that. This is one of the primary reasons I decided to school my children at home. Just because a person takes classes to learn how to teach, doesn't meant hey will be good teachers. Credentials mean nothing to me when it comes to my children's well-being. This is just a horrible thing, and I wish there was something we could to to put a stop to it. Unfortunately there isn't....unless everyone on the country decided to start home schooling:) But that just wouldn't work for everyone.
