Anyone have a tankless water heater?

We recently installed a tankless water heater. Our old one was a tank, but we live in the country and the hot water smelled awful because of something inside the tank that collects bacteria or something and it made the water stink so badly that we had to get rid of it.
I was wondering just how many people have done this. How many people even know about tankless water heaters? Even the ones that run on electricity save money because you're not constantly heating the water held in the tank.
Hsve you seen a change in your electric bill? And if you bought the propane type, how many gallons do you go through in a year?
Thanks to all.

I haven't bought one yet, but I have been thinking about it very seriously. I live out in the country, too, and my water is full of minerals. That's not a bad thing, but it does wreak havoc on things like water heaters! The last time I had to get a new one, I also had to replace the floor in my bathroom. The water heater is in the main bath in a closet, but lucky for me, it leaked through the wall into my bathroom!
I'm glad to know you you like it. I don't know anyone who has replaced their's with a tankless, so I wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not.
If I get one, I will most likely get an electric one since my whole house is electric. Thanks for the information! I might change mine soon!

Make sure you get enough information on the electric ones before you buy it! We were going to get an electric one, but my husband ordered the wrong kind. He went to buy an electric one (before returning the propane model because I was desperate for non-stinky-smelling hot water) and the salesman told him to stick with the propane. He said he's had two people return the electric and exchange them for propane already.
I'm not sure of the reason why, but it is good to know that if our electricity goes out during one of our seemingly endless thunderstorms we'll have hot water. We got 2 25-gallon propane tanks and get one filled and ready when the other is about half empty.
So please check out both very carefully before buying. Maybe there's a forum on plumbing. Wait a sec, now that I think about it, there is a forum on plumbing! I just can't remember the name of it. Just do a search for propane vs. electric tankless water heaters. You may be able to find real people who've bought the electric kind.
Good luck to you!
