When I opened my mail just minutes ago, a Paypal mail caught my attention right away, I was thinking of some monetary blessing (hehe). But when I opened the mail, it was some kind of notification about recurring attempts of opening my paypal account, accordingly, that according to the sender, the company was forced to lock my account for security's sake.
I was given a link to go to for me to solve the problem but when I clicked the link, there was an error: URL can't be found.
I was already anxious about my blocked paypal account so I went to paypal's website just to verify and hopefully be informed what to do with it.
To my surprise, everything was just fine with my account..I logged in successfully, check some details.
What could've beeen the purpose of such mail? If the browser was able to check on that link, was it a danger sign that I will be put into the clutches of hackers?
Have you experienced something like this?

I have had that kind of email come in but not in some time. What I did was went to the site but not through the email. These kind of emails can get information from you. I went to the site by putting the address in the address box and than I sent the email to the head of paypal. One of the ways to know that it is truly from paypal if they use your name in the email. I still don't go to the site from the email. To me it is too dangerous. They can grab your info.
