How much TV do you let your kids watch?

I don't really limit my daughter's time with the television. If it is daytime and not rainy she is out playing. She still manages to fit in quite a bit of TV because she gets up before her friends can play and I let her watch some before bed. When it's rainy and she has nobody to play with we do "movie days" in which we watch movies and play board and card games. So all in all she gets quite a bit of TV time without being a couch potato. How about your kids? How much TV do you let them watch? Do you put limits on them?

We have to set some limits because my children are like me - they enjoy watching television. We allow them each one choice a day, but even that can add up to too much t.v. in one day. Rainy days are tough because it seems that's all they want to do. However, some days, I just say no and we do crafts, card making or play games. They enjoy that too!

We do movie days when it rains and play games while we watch some movies. I don't mind that. I just don't want her to be a couch potato when she should be out playing on beautiful days. Especially now that summer is here and it is light so long and nice for playing.

i wouldn't want my children to watch tv excessively due to the fact they will not have enough time for their academics and sleep. what i do is that there are important programmes that allow them to watch and there is particualar time for bed especially at night. so because of these arrangements they don't watch tv any how. atimes they come begging to watch some adverts and programmes.

I have rules about homework and flute practice that have to be done before any TV is allowed. It's always a good thing to set priorities for the kids. I have DVR so if there is something she really wants to watch which interferes with her other stuff I will let her record it so she can watch it when she is free.

We don't have a set rule of how much TV our 2 year old can watch. He's pretty much allowed to watch it as much as he wants, as long as it doesn't interfere with dinner, naps, bedtime, etc.
Really he doesn't watch much TV, though. A lot of times it's on in the afternoon, but he's coloring, playing with his toys, snuggling with the dogs, etc, and just using the TV as background music. If he is actively watching the TV, he's usually dancing around singing!
We also make sure we go out and play when it's nice enough to. We go for walks every day if it's nice, too.

My daughter is only five months old and she doesnt watch any TV whatsoever. She will not watch any TV until she is two. I firmly beleive in this and will follow through. When she turns two she wont watch anything, but the learning channel or discovery channel because that is what we watch and i will not have my daughter watching that reatardation called cartoons.

Understandable, I was actually appaled at some of the cartoons they put on Nick. Some of them are pretty base. I don't think little ones need to see that. I'm also a fan of The Learning Channel and Discovery, although I like the History Channel as well. My daughter is more into the sitcoms on Disney channel which aren't too bad in my opinion, although she likes some of the things I like.
