An Apology for an Erroneous Post!

This morning I read a disturbing report about twin girls who had apparently been abandoned by their elderly parents who had had ivf treatment abroad to conceive them and were now looking to get ivf again as they wanted a boy and not a girl! I have since found another link (that wasn't available at that time) which says the parents had NOT abandoned their daughters , the twins had been transferred to a different hospital where their parents were visiting them regularly and social services were NOT involved in any way which they would if there was ANY problem with the parents rejecting their babies!
I want to apologise for starting a post about something that wasn't true, it should never have appeared in the press but then I have always known that you cannot believe everything you read in the papers or hear in the media and I was so upset and horrified by what I read I dropped my guard and repeated it!
I have enclosed a link to the more recent story and I hope and pray everything goes well for these beautiful babies from now on!

I hope so also that both of these babies have a great life.. I just don't understand some people. They should be greatful to God that both of there childern are both healthy. There are some people that want kids and can't have them. I am scared to myself. That is one of the resons why my ex husband left me. I was scared to have any kids because I am not in great shape and also the medications or shot treatments that I am on can cause really bad problems for babies. In plus I am going through menopause. To me these people sound selfish.

LOL I could make a few suggestions about what a dander is! lol I would never perpetuate a false report if I could help it honey! Serves me right for trusting the press - I have experienced the way they have misreported and twisted things before and should have known better! xxx

Sweetie it has been said everywhere that this is what the Parents are doing and I think they could sue for that as it is totally wrong Information given
Ok they should not have showed the Disappointment of not having a Boy as I do find that awful but there is no need for the Press to get out of Hand xxxx

Hello mummymo!:-)
I saw your other discussion a few minutes ago and intended to respond to it after my survey of other discussions. I am glad that I found this discussion. I am happy not only because you found the right situation but also because that post was indeed wrong about parents. I couldn't imagine how parents could possibly be abandoning their children.
I also thank you for making correction to what wasn't your fault initially. Media is so much corrupt today. And, by doing what you did, you have taken lead and have set a great precedence for others. Because, what I see many a time here is people reporting false reports, propagandas, hate speeches with no substance and what not, and even if corrected, they don't apologize for spreading falsehood, perhaps because of their inflated egos or perhaps because they still want to believe the falsehood because of their prejudices.
I am just glad that parents haven't actually abandoned girls, even though their showing initial disappointment wasn't great either.
Thank you mummymo!

Thanks for that supportive (as always) response Kamran! I have never been one to live with lies and I believe in being open and honest. this story had totally appalled and saddened me so when I discovered it was not true I had to set the story straight , put my hands up to falling for a lie and apologise! I have known for years that you cannot trust all you read in a newspaper and I feel really stupid for believing this one! I always admit my mistakes Kamran otherwise how do you learn from them and stop making the same mistake over and over again? It is such a relief that this story is not true and those 2 baby girls have not just been dumped and abandoned! xxxx

That is so sweet that you would post a follow up to your original post. All good journalist do that. I'm sure some would not have taken the time to provide additional info, but I'm glad you do. What an outstanding and honorable thing to do.
I will check out the entire story, when I get a minute. I'm not always right about things. And, I try to make them right when I can. It's nice to be in such good company, Mummymo. You're one of the reasons that I keep coming back to MyLot and posting even when there are so many others around who are being mean and nasty. Be well. Best of health and long life. Blessings upon you, my friend.

aww Thank you beautyqueen! I do believe in trying to give out the truth and correct info and if I or someone who has influenced me gets it wring then I feel I have to correct that! I have always believed that whilst being wrong is not necessarily a bad thing , hiding it or lying about it is and it is no example for my kids if I act badly! Hugs xxxx

Hi mummymo! That is alright dear. I am just glad to know that it was just a mistake and far from the truth. I am really happy knowing those babies are safe and are not being rejected/abandoned by their own parents. I guess, I was too harsh too in passing judgement without really confirming it. I think I got emotional with the beautiful babies being abandoned. Thi
s just shows how media can be so cruel too at times and that could be very frustrating especially with those people involved.

Faith I have yet to see you be harsh - I think you are an amazing person! I should have known better than to believe what I read in the paper but I guess that it was just too emotional and really got to me too! I am so relieved for these babies and feel so bad for the parents that were portrayed to be monsters when it was not true! xxx

I didn't see the link for the updated story but I am glad to hear that the original was false!
I have seen different reports all over the internet of this couple abandoning their twins. It is good to know that that hasn't happened afterall.
It is not your fault. How are we supposed to know when news programs and papers are reporting erroneously? We don't until they start backpeddaling. Thank you for clearing up the whole thing though. A lot of people were sick about it. Myself included.

When I first read about this in the first post I came across I was in shock that parents could do such a thing. Then I came across this and to find out that they didn't abandon them thank god. We all make mistakes and it's good you came forward w/ this most people wouldn't have you did the right thing thankyou now we can all be at ease knowing the babies are at least in good hands.

It is good to know that this story was false but quite sickening to know that a journalist did not bother to check their facts before putting a story like this into the public domain - what a horrible effect this must have had on that family! I always try to admit when I have made a mistake - I have found honesty is the best policy xxx

mummymo I accept your apology but it is really not needed as you like many of us believe (or have up until now) at what we hear on the news or read, because we think that it comes from honesty from the Media. How very wrong are we but what it does do is make us aware that not all the news we hear or read is going to be the truth. We like to live in a society that is about trust but those days are long gone as is proven over and over again. But sweep this story under the carpet for where it belongs (or floorboards) which ever suits! Keep on with your great discussions and you will get responses! xx

Thank you for that Caramello - I feel much better about myself now! I had thought I had learnt my lesson about believing what you read in the paper many years ago -I guess when you read something like that emotions take over and you forget to question the truth! xxx

It might not be true in this particular case, but it could have been. There are a number of countries and cultures where they don't want female children.
Unfortunately nice stories don't sell newspapers, so they try to sensationalise any story at all, and sometimes just tell lies about what they publish. (They probably hope to sell enough extra copies to be able to pay if they get sued for lible).

Eskimo honey I thought I had learned my lesson about believing what I read in the newspapers - I guess this is just such an emotional story I couldn't help myself! I do hope this paper and the journalist are both sued and sued big - which I don't usually say! xxx
