"Explicit decree punishes women, bishops who ordain them"
that is the headline over at msnbc
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24878944/?GT1=43001
The church said it cannot change the rules banning women from the priesthood because Christ chose only men as his apostles. Church law states that only a baptized male can be made a priest
I'm sorry but when is the Catholic Church going to get with the times? If these women are doing right by the religion, ppl are happy to have them as priests etc then what the hell is the problem?!
how do you feel about it? do you think that its right for the Vatican to do this or do you think its time to mature within and get a little up to date?

considering the vaticans past actions and blatant disregard for the well-being of their parishoners in leu of their own reputation and the almighty dollah.. this really shouldnt be such a surprise. theyd rather have a child rapist male in the position of counsel than a devout faithful woman that could do some good. it has nothing to do with anything other than their own personal agendas.

second attempt at this cause the first one failed.. take two!
no it isnt funny.. its sad its disgusting and its downright reprehensible. what it boils down to.. is that the catholic church in its barest of forms, isnt about faith, devotion, and worship of god.. which is what it illusioned to be. it is just another big business conglomerate seeking power over the populice and using the sposed words and law of god to do so.

Blargh. It's like that news article where they tried to fire those nuns because they wore pants!
*twitches*
I think if they don't learn to evolve with the times then they might find themselves out of date.
_ they wear on my patience sometimes. There's that theory that Mary Magdalene had been an apostle too and that she got downplayed over history...not enough investigating has gone into that, I say. So how do they really KNOW that Christ only wanted men as priests? The apostles weren't even priests...they had families and such, if I'm not mistaken...
Their logic confounds me V_V

I could easily dump on the vatican and point out all the false doctrine they have put into place that brings what Christ did into so much negative light. But I honostly think that the vatican and catholic church may have been the lesser of two evils in its day and maybe now there is more truth to be revealed that humanity has grown from infants to toddlers, or more like rebelious teens but not sure if we are that far yet. Guess only time will tell.

Hi Ravenladyj, The Catholic Church will someday change the rules, but until that happens I think those of that faith will just have to accept that only men can be priests. I'm not saying they shouldn't continue the fight, but that the power is at the top, and that's where the change has to come from. Of course I think it's ridiculous, but than the church has always been behind the times, and it's not just the Catholics. Women have had to fight for equality in every field, and the Church and Christian teachings have been among their biggest opponents. Blessings.

Respect the woman, treat them equally in the face of our laws and of our God. This way f thinking is what's making the catholic church obsolete in our time.

I'm really not sure on that I think Catholic are one of the strictest religions. Sure I think if women are up to the task they should be able to become priests, many other religions have women as ministers why not the catholics. I've heard many bad things that happen in that religion and it is very much against the laws of God but they have been broken so why not They should allow women priests, but they are set in their ways I doubt it will happen.
