A guy just called me on the phone to verify I had an open checking account and send me travel vouchers. First he called me by my nickname not my real name. Then he wanted me to tell him my middle initial. He got upset when I said no, since he already has my address he can send my travel vouchers without knowing my middle initial. THEN he wanted to know the name of the bank I use to verify my account. He hung up after I told him that was privateinformation.
The guy was so scattered that it was hillarious.
What are some other scams you've seen or heard of that are so bad they are funny?

Don't you hate these people who talk at us like we were born yesterday? And don't you hate the way they prey on elderly people who are so trusting! Even my mother who was always such a savvy person almost fell for one awhile back. She's 77.

I know. It's scary how some are SO bad and others almost get you. My Mom has called me a couple times asking whether she should call person X back and describing the situation. Usually she is really good at spotting them though.

You should hear my husband when he gets one on the phone. He has an accent so the people are really taken aback when he starts rambling. I love to listen to it. He will talk in circles and then abruptly hang up. He delights in giving them heck.

I feel bad for the legitimate telemarketers, the ones who are staying within the law and just making their $5/hour.

I think the guy must have gotten it from a list somewhere. I'm not too upset about it honestly, just sad that those people are still out there.
