Squeaking floors

I live in an apartment and our floors are really squeaky. It's really bad in the bathroom and in the living room, any time you take a step in there you can hear it and it's loud. I'm afraid that I'm bothering the people who live below me (I'm on the 3rd floor). Do you know any ways to fix a squeaky floor in an apartment that doesn't involve ripping it up?

I would talk to the landlord about fixing that, unless you own the property then maybe you need to get a builder in for a quote or something.

Have you tried rubbing soap on the boards? If the person below you complains, it's up to your landlord to take care of the floors but it's nice that you're considerate of others!
