Will you say hello to your friend if you see him/her online?

I don't usually do so. As sometimes I am afraid to bother my friend. If I have something to say, then I will say hello to them at first.

I don't have a messenger anymore so I'm not able to. When I did I usually waited until they said something to me. It's hard for me to concentrate on what I'm doing and message back and forth to someone too.

I still remember you dropped me a line and concerned about my situation when the earthquake happened in my country. I am very impressed to it and you are a very considerate and careful friend.

I will only say hello if I have something more to say, because I hate generic conversations: Person 1: Hi Person 2: Hi Person 1: How are you? Person 2: Fine you? Person 1: Fine =D -silence-

Frankly, it's very normal that sometimes we will have this kind of conversation at the beginning

Yeah at the beginning that is okay, but when that is the entire conversation, because neither person can think of anything to talk about is annoying, which is why I always have something in mind to talk about before saying hello.

I agree and i actually prefer not to say hello in the first place, except for the moments i have not said hello for a long time - but in that case i also start a discussion, but in general with my best friends, we talk only when we need too, no matter the topic, but we don't always say hello.

But anyway I think it's better for them to say hello to you. Typing "hi" isn't that difficult and it won't spend them a long time

Of course I will say hello to my friends when I see them on line. If they are busy, they can tell me "Hi, can I call you back?" and I'll be able to take it. I'm not so insecure as to be bothered because they may be busy, just as they are not worried that I might be busy. We are friends, and we will all get back to eachother soon enough.

I don't usually to that either. I am not always a active person even online. If I don't have something to talk with my friends, I prefer just leave it there.

I turn on my chatting softwares when I am online. But usually I won't talk to others at first. But if anybody speaks to me, I will reply to them.

I don't usually say hello to my online friends because I know that most of them are at work and I try not to disturb them. Some instances that I may pop a hello first would be when I have something important to say to them, I haven't chatted with a friend for a long time and just want to say hi, or when I am down and needs to chat with a friend. Usually, if my chat would be something important and might take longer than a usual hi/hello, I ask my friend beforehand if he/she has some time to spare. Then, I make sure that I can engage in our conversation so that I will not bore my friend and waste his/her time.

I don't usually say hi to a friend in day time, but sometimes I will say hi to them at night when they don't have to work.

Hello youless!:-) I, much like you are, don't feel like bothering my friends even if I have something to say. Especially when they have busy sign on as their status. Even if busy sign is not on, I feel that I might be bothering them by saying hello and they will reply back just out of courtesy. So, I normally wait for them to initialize. I guess, I am not very good at socializing. I'll always reply back though, if they say hello to me and will never abandon them or like them to feel that they aren't welcome. I really like to talk to my friends online. But, I also like that they feel comfortable with me and one possible way to know is, if they start the conversation. But, if I have something really important to talk to, especially about them or something of concern to them, I'll say hello and try to finish my part as quickly and shortly as possible, just to ensure that they have what they should.

I usually don't say hi first...not knowing if my friend is busy....or well, one in particular it could be her hubby or kids getting on the computer and not her. She always asks if it's me first when she gets online. LOL Marsha

That's true. My friend ever complained about it to me. At that time my son continuously sent her emotional flash images and that's so cute in my opinion.

Hi youless! Sometimes, I would say hello to them but most of the time, I really don't. Usually when my friends and I want to chat online, we set up a schedule because everyone is busy at home and in their work. So, if I see them online, I will just say hi because I do not want to bother them for they maybe busy chatting about business or things that I am not really involved with. Take Care and God Bless! Have a smile in your heart always!
