What have apostrophes got to do with driving a taxi?

A taxi driver was denied a license because he failed an English test which he claimed did not actually test his driving skills. Oh my Buddha! Read the whole article here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1023041/Taxi-driver-banned-driving--use-apostrophes.html

whew! that is such a humorous story. how can one be denied of getting a license to dive a taxi, just because he doesn't know where to put the apostrophe? i think this is unfair to the divers. because apostrophe will not affect the way one drives.

I know, it's totally irrelevant.

I watched a documentary where the english cabbie is the hardest taxi job in the world, the test is out of this world and people study for two years for it.

It's really a ridiculous test in the first place. It doesn't have any washback effect on the testtakers.

Poor guy! I hope this doesn't prevent him from getting a job anywhere in the future. I strongly doubt it would affect his taxi driving ability.

I know it's really ridiculous. On the other hand, a person who has not been a cabbir before but knows his English grammar very well can get the job even is he is not familiar with the streets. That's what it is implying to me.

I think it will reduce the license cab drives and there will be a whole lot of unlicensed cabbies popping up.The test has nothing to do with driving a cab and people will just drive without the license.

Didn't this standardized tests get so much protests already? Why are they coming back to cast havoc on the drivers this time?
